Lumpkin County Manager Recognized for 40 Years of Service to Local Governments

At this year’s International City/County Management Association (ICMA) annual conference, Lumpkin County Manager Alan Ours was recognized for his 40 years of local government service! Mr. Ours is an ICMA Credentialed Manager and served on the Executive Board from 2013 to 2016.

Representative Todd Jones Receives ACCG Legislative Service Award

During a recent Forsyth Board of Commissioners work session, ACCG presented Georgia Representative Todd Jones with a Legislative Service Award for his demonstration of exemplary leadership related to the passage of Georgia House BIll 1013, also known as the Mental Health Parity Act, as well as his work on other legislation.  The Mental Health Parity Act addresses mental health reforms through insurance parity, workforce shortages and criminal justice reform.

Rockdale County Holds Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for New Dog Park

Rockdale County recently celebrated the opening of the Paw Playground at the Johnson Park Recreation Center.  Several furry friends and their families joined the county to take a look at the new addition.  This is the second dog park the county has opened in the last three years.

Connects with Residents During Welcoming Week

In honor of Welcoming Week, the Gwinnett County Community Outreach team hosted a luncheon for residents to connect and celebrate its welcoming community. Welcoming Week is celebrated during September 9 - 18 and encourages communities/organizations to champion an inclusive environment and showcase how they help foster belonging for all people, especially immigrants.

Oconee County Senior Center Celebrates 50 Years

The Oconee Senior Center celebrated 50 years in style. The celebration was filled with laughter, great friends and even better memories. The Senior Center has a lot to celebrate, as it recently expanded to include a new health and wellness center along with additional space for arts and recreational activities.

The Braves Name Street After Late Cobb County Chairman Tim Lee

Family, friends, and coworkers of the late Tim Lee joined Atlanta Braves officials for the dedication of Tim Lee Way in a newly-completed section of Battery Atlanta. Lee was the Chairman of the Cobb County Board of Commissioners from 2010-2017 and was instrumental in working with the Braves to bring the stadium and the Battery Atlanta development to Cobb County. The newly-named road is on the western side of the complex and runs between Battery Avenue and Windy Ridge Parkway.
