Baldwin County Celebrates Ribbon Cutting for New Splash Pad
Baldwin County recently celebrated the ribbon cutting of the brand-new splash pad at Harrisburg Park! In addition to the new splashpad, the park houses a community garden and a walking trail maintained by the county parks and recreation department and Baldwin County residents. This collaborative effort keeps the historically rich community thriving.

Community leaders look forward to the future of Harrisburg. A grant from the Community Foundation of Central Georgia and the Knight Foundation will help support the development of a Neighborhood Revitalization Strategy and Master Plan for the area.
Rockdale County Hosts Save Small Business Expo
Rockdale County hosted the first of many Save Small Business Expos to encourage the community to support small businesses. Shoppers were encouraged to take the pledge and commit to making one purchase a week from a local business.

The expo featured over 50 vendors that ranged from children's book authors to local chiropractors. Follow the #takethepledge hashtag to continue supporting these great vendors. The next expo will take place in Newton County on October 21.

Columbia County Departments Receive Accolades
Columbia County received the Southeast Governmental Fleet Managers Association’s (SGFMA) Award for Quality Fleet Management during their Annual Meeting on September 15. The award is based on a department’s accomplishments and judged on originality, innovation, effectiveness, and applicability in their specific area. Due to COVID, SGFMA based their decision on the organization’s top four initiatives during the past two years.

The fleet service isn't the only department receiving national recognition for its outstanding work. The Columbia County Emergency Management Agency has been named the 2021 Weather-Ready Nation Ambassador of Excellence by the staff of NWS Columbia, South Carolina.
