Butts County Employees Celebrate College Colors Day

National College Colors Day always falls on the Friday before Labor Day weekend.  Butts County employees sported their diverse school spirit while at work on Friday.  Many college football teams return to the field this weekend - may your favorite team see a season of success!

Barrow County Commissioners-Elect Hosted at Reception

Barrow County Judicial Courthouse employees and the Barrow County Sheriff's Office hosted a reception this week for two newly elected county officials. - Commissioner-Elect Tim Walker and Commissioner-Elect Deborah Lynn.  Commissioner Alex Ward (who is serving out the remainder of Commissioner Isaiah Berry's term) also attended.  Pictured from left to right:  Commissioner-Elect Tim Walker, Commissioner-Elect Deborah Lynn and Superior Court Judge Currie Mingledorff II.

Forsyth County Citizens' Academy Holds Inaugural Graduation

Forsyth County recently held a graduation ceremony for the inaugural class of the Citizens' Academy program.  Over eight classes, academy participants toured various facilities and spoke with county leaders about county functions that help drive the community.

Broadband Expansion Underway Thanks to

State American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Grants and Matching Local ARPA Funds

Montgomery County: Officials representing Brewton Parker College and Altamaha EMC joined with Montgomery County commissioners, legislators and city officials from Mount Vernon and Ailey to celebrate expanded broadband access. The project was funded through a $5.9 million state American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) broadband grant and $3.8 million from county and city ARPA funds.

Baldwin County: Officials in Baldwin County joined representatives from Kinetic to break ground this week in the expansion of high-speed internet services to approximately 683 households.  The $1.8 million project is funded through a $842,136 state American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) broadband grant, $151,782 in matching funds from Baldwin County and $792,503 from Kinetic. 

September is National Preparedness Month

September marks National Preparedness Month, with a goal to raise awareness about the importance about preparing for disasters and emergencies that could happen at any time.  The Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency provide outreach tools and other resources that may be customized for your county.  This year's theme focuses on, "Protecting Your Legacy."
