In honor of what would have been the opening weekend for college football - if the SEC East was ranked by Census self-response rates, here's where Georgia would place:

Kentucky: 67.3%
Missouri: 64.8%
Tennessee (UT & Vandy tie): 64.6%
Florida: 61.9%
Georgia: 60.6%
South Carolina: 59.2%

Funding for many federal programs for your community are based on the Census. The deadline to respond to the 2020 Census is September 30, so make sure you are continuing to encourage your residents to get counted. Learn more here.

Liberty County Uses Local Events to Encourage Census Participation

Liberty County took advantage of a weekend gathering spot to increase awareness about Census participation. County staff, including these law enforcement officers, attended the Hinesville Farmers Market and encouraged their residents to respond. Thanks for a great job promoting the Census and wearing masks to stop the spread of COVID-19!

Tift County Partners with PB&Jesus on Census Outreach

Tift County partnered with a local organization called PB&Jesus that feeds 1,200 - 1,30 kids in their community every Saturday to promote Census participation. Volunteers, including Assistant Wahtiki Crawford, E911 Director Tina Gay and County Clerk Miriam Jordan, helped to stuff each bag with information on the Census.

Forsyth County Lights Up Purple for Overdose Awareness Day

The Forsyth County Government buildings were lit up purple on Monday in recognition of Overdose Awareness Day. The purple light recognizes and remembers those affected by accidental drug overdose deaths through a show of support and solidarity. Overdose Awareness Day is a global event held each August 31.
