Chairman Nash Offers Her
Final State of the County Address
Gwinnett County Chairman Charlotte Nash delivered her 10th and final State of the County address on Wednesday, focusing on water supply, mobility and public safety. Nash, who also served as ACCG President in 2015-2016, is not seeking re-election.

ACCG Associate Legislative Director Debra Nesbit testified before the House Public Safety Appropriations Subcommittee this week to explain the impact of proposed budget cuts on counties.

Union County Sole Commissioner Lamar Paris served as a roving reporter sharing weather updates and road conditions through social media as several inches of snow fell on his community.
Next Generation Leadership in Liberty County
The Liberty County BOC recognized the newly elected leadership of the Liberty County Youth Community Leaders Commission: Thomas Neely (front left) Chairman, Lorraine Williamson (front left center) Vice-Chairman, Ivy Brown (front right center) Secretary, Xavier Spence (front right) Parliamentarian, Mia Fairnot (front right) Treasurer and Michael Ford Jr. Historian (second row, behind Ms Fairnot). They will visit Representative Al Williams on March 4 at the Capitol.  
Jones County Receives AARP Designation for being Age-Friendly
Jones County Chairman Chris Weidner recently accepted the county's membership into the AARP Network of Age-Friendly Communities. This designation recognizes the county's commitment to make services and neighborhoods more user-friendly to people age 50 and older.
 
Firefighters Teaching F.L.A.M.E.S.
Firefighters from Columbia County Fire Rescue traveled to Florida to help lead Firefighters Laboring and Mastering Essential Skills (F.L.A.M.E.S.) training. This 48-hour course, created by Chatsworth Fire Chief Charles Baxter (Murray County), is nationally recognized and provides training for intense emergencies by putting both the mind and body under extreme stress ​. The course graduated its 300th student.
