Back to school safety

School is back in session and here are a few friendly reminders from Safe Streets with Shelly. Roads and bus routes are busier, so let’s all do our part to keep students safe.

  • Students – listen to crossing guards, look both ways, use crosswalks and stay alert by putting distractions like headphones or phones away while crossing
  • Drivers – slow down in school and Community Safety Zones (30–40 km/h), stop for buses with flashing red lights, yield at crosswalks and plan for extra traffic

Shelly says, β€œSlow and steady wins the race – and keeps everyone safe! Leave extra time for your morning, lunchtime and afternoon commutes.” Find more safety tips at georgina.ca/SafeStreets.
