Geospatial Data Act of 2017 (S.1253)

Part of URISA's mandate is to protect, promote and grow the GIS profession. And that includes monitoring and reacting to any possible negative impacts to our members' livelihood.

There has been quite a bit of dialogue recently about the Geospatial Data Act of 2017 (S.1253). URISA's Policy Advisory Committee has been actively debating and developed a position statement which the Board just approved. Take some time to read through the full text of the bill along with the URISA Board's position. 
There will certainly be more discussion. Stay engaged!

URISA at the Esri User Conference

Will you be in San Diego for the Esri UC next week? 
Stop by the URISA Booth (215). Talk to current and future members about what URISA means to you. Rest your feet for a bit (and give Wendy a break!).

The 10th National GIS in Transit Conference  will take place September 6-8 in Washington DC. Check out the workshop offerings and abundant breakout sessions.  There are just a few exhibit spaces available at the conference. So grab your booth soon, solutions providers!
  • Continuing Education: The conference was approved for 46.5 AICP-CM credits and certainly counts toward GISP Education Points.

The 2018 GIS/CAMA Technologies Conference we are presenting with the International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO) will be next March in Houston, Texas . Note the deadline dates (August 1 and October 1) for  Workshop Proposals and the Call for Presentation Proposals .
