GERALDINE BROOKS grew up in Australia and became a journalist with The Sydney Morning Herald, and later with The Wall Street Journal. Brooks was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in Fiction in 2006 for her novel March. Many of her novels and nonfiction books have been New York Times bestsellers. Her first novel, Year of Wonders, is an international bestseller, translated into more than 25 languages. In 2016, Brooks was named an Officer in the Order of Australia.

DIANE REHM is an American journalist and the host of Diane Rehm: On My Mind podcast, produced at WAMU, which is licensed to American University in Washington, D.C. She also hosts a monthly book club series, Diane Rehm Book Club, at WAMU. For almost 40 years she had The Diane Rehm Show on public radio, with an international reach and a weekly on-air audience of nearly 3 million. She was awarded a Personal Peabody Award in 2010, and the National Humanities Medal presented by President Obama in 2014.

HORSE: A NOVEL, explores the remarkable true story of the record-breaking thoroughbred Lexington, who was close to unbeatable as a racehorse. He went on to become America’s greatest stud sire. Lexington appeared in the pedigrees of four of the first five Kentucky Derby winners, including inaugural victor, Aristides.
