Hafa Adai Catherine,
It has been quite the month! We started with our Centennial Gala, which was such a great success! We have the membership to thank for this very special event: our Centurian sponsors and benefactors, the centennial planning committee, our logistics support partners, your Chamber Team, and of course, our host venue, the Hyatt Regency Guam, whose cooperative efforts contributed towards a memorable experience for all in attendance. A huge thank you goes out to our Chairman, Ernie Galito, who planned another record-breaking anniversary gala! We also want to recognize the achievements of our 2024 Laureate, Robert (Bob) Salas, LMS, who has made significant contributions to the landscaping industry, and whose continuing entrepreneurial spirit and successes are an inspiration for many to aspire to.
May marks the first anniversary of Typhoon Mawar’s havoc on our island. As we all remember the challenges that resulted from the devastation of the typhoon, we have many to thank for their generous spirit in helping others during this time as well. The Chamber has many to thank for their generous spirit, especially First Hawaiian Bank for housing the Chamber Team for over a month after the typhoon, to Clara Peterson and East-West Business Center for helping us with a temporary home in Upper Tumon while our Hagatna home was being repaired, and to Ada’s Trust & Investment for your continued partnership with the Chamber and making it possible for the Chamber to move back to the capital city of Hagåtña. We send our warmest thanks to everyone for their patience during this transitional year and we look forward to fully opening our doors to member activities very soon!
We ended the month with our general membership meeting featuring Dr. Anita Borja Enriquez, President of the University of Guam, who spoke about the University’s innovative initiatives, engaging programs, and important achievements. We are so pleased that Dr. Enriquez was able to spend time with us and we look forward to furthering our partnership with UOG.
Your Chamber Team continues to make things happen and without them, we could not do all we do to support over 400 members and the business community at large. Special thanks to Jackie Casil, Rebekah Mendiola, Brandin Ogo, and Schuyler Delgado for their inspiring dedication to the Chamber and the good work they do each day to keep the Chamber engine running at full capacity.
There is much to look forward to in the weeks to come! In the meantime, please take a quick scroll down this week’s newsletter for a glimpse of things on the horizon that may be of interest to you, your staff, and your business. We look forward to seeing you at a Chamber activity again very soon!
Onward together,
Catherine Castro
President
