October has arrived and brought with it some very chilly and stormy weather here on Cape Cod!
We had a pleasantly busy September and we are in the middle of a few projects that we hope will bear fruit in the near future, including some particularly interesting old maps that we hope will be available on our website soon.
Chatham is gearing up for a fun Fall season, including the famous Pumpkins in the Park, Oktoberfest on October 22, and we expect there will be an abundance of pumpkins on the lawn of the First Congregational Church any day now!

Below we shall highlight some exciting new maps, but you can always visit our Newly Listed Maps section to see everything from the past month or so. We have a Great Maps - Super Deals category that offers our discounted items. And don't forget that we also have a category specifically for maps under $100!
If you are looking for something specific, we recommend using the search function or the "Filter By" function on the left side above the listings to search within a category.

On the subject of popular maps that we have long sold as reproductions, but now have available as an original antique, we are excited to offer the fantastic Boston Old and New. This map shows the original shape of Boston overlaid on the street plan from 1880. You can see the locations of the hills that were used as fill to expand the city, and many other details that Boston historians will appreciate, including the location of the first house in Boston.

In addition to Ohio state, county, and city maps, this collection also includes some other interesting maps, including a nice map of Texas and a few maps of other parts of the US. These maps show major cities, towns, geology, and topography. The year 1868 was an interesting one in US history; it included the impeachment trial of Andrew Johnson, the organization of Wyoming Territory, the readmittance to the Union of Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, North Carolina, and South Carolina after the Civil War, the election of Ulysses S. Grant as President, and the Christmas day grant of unconditional pardon to all Civil War rebels.

Some of our newest pictorial maps include a handsome map of Italy (in Italian!), a map of Berkshire County, MA, and an aptly colored map of Oregon encouraging people to keep the state green.

Maps of Chittenden County, Vermont

Vermont holds a special interest here at Maps of Antiquity, because Bob grew up near Middlebury. We are attempting to have originals of all Vermont towns, and have recently added Chittenden County, on Lake Champlain, to our inventory. Many of these maps show the property owners names from 1869.
