In its State Policy Update, NAW Government Relations notes that the 25% tariffs on Canada and Mexico are set to go into effect on Mar. 4 unless further delays are established, and state governments are preparing for the potential downstream economic impacts. In response, some states have begun to focus on tariffs through legislative vehicles, such as California’s S.B. 263, which would require state agencies to study the impacts that potential future increases in new tariffs and reciprocal tariffs on international trade might have on the movement of freight.
