Remote Opportunities for Philadelphians To Push City Off Fossil Fuels
There are two PGW hearings coming up in the next week! Attending these meetings - even if you don't speak and have your camera off the whole time! -sends a message to the city and the PGW that people are engaged in the conversation around PGW's sustainability transition.
If you speak at either, remember to say if you are a PGW ratepayer.
Capital Budget Hearing
When: Tuesday, March 7, 10am
Where: Virtual
This hearing is about PGW's long term investments. POWER and allies are arguing that PGW must be working to shrink the system, because its size is built for peak load, which is not an efficient way to approach energy use. Advocates are arguing for efficiency as a central part of planning, and for non-pipelines alternatives as a way to reduce capital spending. There may be an opportunity for those watching to speak for a limited time at the end of the hearing.
PUC Public Input Hearing on PGW's Weather Normalization Adjustment
When: Thursday, March 9, 10am- 6pm
Where: Virtual
The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) has scheduled a pair of telephonic hearings on March 9, 2023, to gather public input on the Weather Normalization Adjustment (WNA) used by Philadelphia Gas Works (PGW). PGW provides natural gas distribution services to approximately 500,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers in the City of Philadelphia.
This is your opportunity to tell the state utility commissioners that PGW, not ratepayers, should bear the risk for climate predictions, and should mitigate risks of warming winters.
Choose your time in signing up by March 7 at 3:30 via phone.
