Get Out From Under Your Circumstances! (Part One) | |
Blessings to you!
In our collective journey of self-discovery, we may find ourselves overburdened, feeling much like Atlas, the Titan who, according to Greek mythology, was ordered by Zeus to hold up the sky on his shoulders as a punishment.
Have you ever felt as though you were "bearing the weight of the world" on your shoulders? Have you ever felt so weighed down by circumstance that it has almost felt like some kind of punishment? Are you feeling this way right now? If so, you're not alone; this message is for you - as will be the subsequent editions for this month of April.
To begin, as a kind of preparation for opening ourselves to receive the offerings of Spirit, I invite you to consider the possibility that your circumstances do not have power over you, nor does anything or anyone else. I invite you to pray, meditating on the idea that there is no one and nothing against you. Finally, I encourage you to recognize yourself - your true, Divine Self... perhaps for the very first time.
Inscribed over the entrance to the ancient temple in the Greek province of Delphi were the words, "Man, know thyself." This simple maxim is a cornerstone to the foundation of Metaphysics: the very bedrock of our Unity teachings.
Over the coming weeks, we will explore the fundamentals of Metaphysics - practical tools and strategies for overcoming, for "getting out from under" and living a prosperous life. In the meantime, as you'll see and read below, we've got a lot of activities happening here at our Unity center, so come and join us in fellowship, fulfillment, and fun at UOC!
Know thyself as the living spirit of unity and love in full expression. I look forward to seeing you on Sunday.
In Oneness, Daryn L. Wells, LUT

Ladies' Tea Party 2026
"Like the lilies of the field, she does not strive; she simply grows in the wild abundance of God’s love." (Inspired by Matthew 6:28)
Save the date for the 2nd annual Unity of Columbus Ladies' Tea Party, Feminine Wilds, on Saturday, May 9, 2026.
TICKETS ON SALE NOW!
The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children.
We expect that the Tea Party will have way more participation this year, so we need more stuff. The Growth Committee is issuing a thrift challenge: We know there are a lot of thrifters in our community, so the person who brings in the most items we can use for the Tea Party will receive a very special gift and recognition as the Baddest Thrifter in Town!
We need:
-Vintage tea cups with matching saucers
-Tea Pots (vintage is great, but not required)
-Vintage luncheon plates
-Vintage cream and sugar sets (matching)
-Items for the silent auction
Items can be dropped off at the Lobby Desk every Sunday, and we will put them in the Tea Party storage area. Make sure your name is on the packages so you get the recognition you deserve. We can’t wait to see who is the Baddest Thrifter in Town!
If you would like to be on the Tea Party Planning Team, sign up at the Lobby Desk.

The "I" Of the Storm: Embracing Conflict,
Creating Peace
with Rev. Brian Drafton-Griffin, Unity Minister
May 17 at 12:30 p.m.
(Based on the book by Dr. Gary Simmons)
Discover how to move from conflict resolution to conflict transformation: transform fear into fearlessness, and resistance into nonresistance.
"Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind." ~ Romans 12:2 (KJV)
Like the calm at a storm’s eye, each of us harbors a spiritual center—our true Self—from which we can respond with grace, not reactivity.
Rev. Brian Drafton-Griffin will assist us in blending the spiritual practices, Biblical wisdom, and martial arts philosophy that fellow Unity minister and author Gary Simmons presents in his book, The "I" of the Storm, while offering techniques for transforming fear into fearlessness and resistance into surrender.
Ultimately, the goal is to connect with your innate Wholeness—recognizing that the entire Universe supports your well‑being—and to bring that centered awareness into all relationships and life challenges.
Join us for this engaging and powerful workshop exploring The "I" of the Storm, and YOU will benefit manifold through the utilization of these tools for spiritual centeredness, emotional resilience, and nonresistance—especially in the midst of conflict and change.
