May: Communicate with Teachers through Canvas

Communicate Directly: Canvas lets you message teachers directly through the inbox for quick questions and concerns. This is often faster and more focused than email.

Organize with Filters: Use the Canvas inbox filters to sort messages by course, see unread items, and review your sent messages. This helps you stay organized and follow up easily.

Quick Tips:

  • Be clear and include your child's name and course.
  • Check announcements for general updates.
  • Be mindful of teacher response times.

By using the inbox and its filters, you can communicate effectively with teachers in Canvas.

Hello Marine families!

Just a few reminders for this month as we roll into May, sooner than we think!.  First, students have been scheduled into classes for next year.  If you have any questions about classes your son/daughter has picked, please reach out to their school counselor.  Students with last names beginning A-M will contact Mrs. Klein and those students with last names beginning L-Z will contact Ms. Zablocki.  You can call 715-735-1305 and be transferred to their office.

Second, please make sure your son/daughter is getting to school every day and on time, including homeroom and Anchor Hour.  If students receive a 3rd or 4th tardy from their teacher they will have to serve a detention with that teacher after school.  Repeated tardies will be detentions after school until 4 pm plus a parent meeting with their teacher and me.  Also, as grades for fourth term start to come in, please double check Skyward and Canvas to monitor what their grades are and if they have any missing assignments.

Spring sports season is underway.  We will be having a number of athletes participating throughout the school year.  We only have one term left of the school year which concludes on Thursday, June 5th!

Graduation is set for Wednesday, May 28th at 6:30 pm at Higley Stadium.  If there is inclement weather, we will move the program to the gymnasium.  Parents/Guardians of seniors:  Please, please double check with them that they will have all 28 credits, have completed ALL ACP documentation, and have passed the Civics Test.  We do not want to make calls to tell parents/guardians that their son/daughter didn’t make it and won’t graduate in time for the ceremony.  We would like to see all students walk at graduation, but we know some choose not to, which is completely understandable.  Diplomas can be picked up at the main office starting on June 2nd and until the end of the month.  Our office is open from 8 am - 3 pm.

The end of the year is going to come quickly so please be sure to keep monitoring those grades and attendance. Thank you for all that you do to make our school and district such a great place to be!

Dear MHS Families,

May is here, and with it comes a sense of both celebration and reflection. As the school year begins to wind down, we find ourselves in one of the most exciting and important stretches of the year—full of final exams, performances, athletic competitions, and, of course, graduation preparations for our seniors.

This month also allows us to shine a well-deserved spotlight on our incredible teachers and staff during Teacher Appreciation Week. They are mentors, motivators, and difference-makers in the lives of our students. Day in and day out, they show up with patience, creativity, and dedication to help every student grow. Please take a moment this month to thank a teacher who has made a difference—you never know how much that small gesture might mean.

To our students: let’s finish strong. Whether you’re completing final projects, or stepping into leadership roles for next year, every day still matters. And to our seniors—your moment is almost here. Stay focused, enjoy the celebrations ahead, and know that we are cheering you on every step of the way.

As always, thank you to our families for your ongoing support. Together, we’ve built something truly special this year—and we’re not done yet.

With gratitude,

Steve Linssen

Principal, MHS
