May is Foster Care Awareness Month and for the fourth year in a row, Samaritas is “painting the town purple” in honor of this special month. Our three goals for this Blitz Month are:

  1. Celebrating and thanking our foster parents
  2. Recruiting new parents to open their hearts and homes
  3. Raising awareness and critical funds for foster care programming

In addition to traditional media relations efforts and advertising campaigns, Samaritas foster parent recruiters will engage with potential foster parents through social media, a Virtual Town Hall and corporate partner support to get the word out about how “#SamaritasFosters”.

Emmy-winning journalist, Cynthia Canty, of Detroit Public Television (DPTV) will serve as the moderator for this Town Hall. Canty is a lifelong resident of metro Detroit and has been on television or radio in Southeast Michigan since 1979.

Foster parents provide a safe, stable environment for a child to receive the love and attention they deserve while away from their birth parents. Foster programs reduce the risk of harm in the short-term and promote family reunification for the long-term.

A Home for Mom
We know how much love and support your mom has given to you over the years. Let Samaritas Senior Living surround your mom with a warm welcome, a team of
professionals who provide faith-based caring, and a circle of friends who quickly become just like family.

“My mom moved in over 9 years ago. Over
the years I have gotten a pretty close look
at Samaritas and couldn’t be happier. You
realize it’s not service delivery, it’s their community. This is my moms home.”

~ Peter, Son of Samaritas Senior Living Resident
Take A Virtual Tour Of Our Communities

“I had hit my bottom, and I was so close to
losing my girls. I had to pull my life together and get back to being a good mom. Samaritas came in when I needed them the most, guided me through the program, and helped me get my family and myself back on track.”

~ Sasha and daughters, Mia and Cara
Samaritas Family Preservation family
When you support the Good Samaritan Fund, you help so many children and families touched by the Samaritas mission, like Sasha and her daughters. You help us find and train more foster parents, enhance employment training for refugees and families, give people the tools to recover from addiction, serve more people with disabilities in their homes, and help families find permanent housing. Your gift makes the difference for thousands of your neighbors - creating stronger, more resilient communities throughout Michigan.
