When You Volunteer,
It Makes a Difference!
Sustaining Donor,

We hope your summer is going well. As you may know, Manna recently moved into new office space in Silver Spring. We have priority needs for volunteers in our referral office and for nutrition education.

Referral Office
Customer Serve Representatives (CSR)
Tracy, a CSR volunteer answers the phones in our new office.
Bi-lingual Spanish, French, Amharic and Haitian skills are a plus.

Office volunteers (18 years of age or older) support our referral program which enables clients to receive food from us. Volunteers receive referral information by phone, fax, and email and input it into our participant database. This allow us to determine how many boxes need to be prepared each day and create a sign-in/out sheet for client pick-up.
We ask office volunteers to make a weekly commitment on the same day and time, each week, for a minimum of 6 months. Floaters are also needed to fill in when regularly scheduled volunteers are not available due to illness and vacations.
CSR volunteers should be comfortable speaking on the phone and using a computer. Interested candidates should possess strong customer service skills and be able to multi-task in a fast-paced office environment. We will provide training for you on how to use our database.

Availability of shifts varies and may include: daytime MON – FRI, TUE – THU evenings and possible Saturday shifts.  Please know this opportunity takes place at our new location 12301 Old Colombia Pike, Silver Spring, MD 20904.
Coming Soon! Manna Market Volunteers
Volunteers at our Gaithersburg Middle School choice pantry.
Manna Food Center will open a new market distribution site in Silver Spring this fall. This location will serve as our main distribution site and will be a choice-style pantry. We are very excited to offer our participants the ability to choose foods that are right for them and their families.

Individuals and small group volunteers are needed to assist participants through the market and help restock food. At this time we are still determining the shifts and details of the positions but we will need help during the daytime, and some weeknight and weekend opportunities may also be available.

Construction is taking place right now and we hope to be able to open in mid to late September. Until we are able to confirm a launch date we are not scheduling volunteers. However, if this opportunity is something you would like to learn more about please fill out this interest form . Once we have additional information we will contact you.

We appreciate your understanding as we navigate this new adventure!
