The Fairy Dog Mother: Running the Iditarod, ASL, and Advocacy
Wednesday, January 10
3:00 - 4:00 PM EST
Join us for a lively discussion with Kate Durket, J.D., who was raised in Juneau, Alaska, became a court interpreter for deaf people, studied law and worked as a disabilities attorney, and ran the Iditarod. As an attorney, Durket also spent time in Washington, D.C., where she lobbied for those who could not advocate for themselves. On one trip, she met President Obama's Chief of Staff Rahm Emanual, and was invited to be part of a 100-person task force that helped to provide a framework for the Affordable Care Act.
