Serving the City of North Plains

New Leadership in North Plains: Sergeant Eamon O’Reilly Steps in as Temporary Police Chief

Effective February 28, 2026, the North Plains City Council welcomed Sergeant Eamon O’Reilly into a temporary role as the City’s new Police Chief through a partnership with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. The transition reflects the continued collaboration between the City of North Plains and WCSO to ensure consistent public safety leadership and service for the community.

Current Chief Nick Jones will assist with the transition before temporarily stepping into a Lieutenant role supporting Washington County’s Patrol Division.

I am excited to explore this new opportunity and build relationships within a welcoming community like North Plains,” said Chief O’Reilly.

Chief O’Reilly brings extensive experience to the role. He has served in the Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division for the past 18 years and previously spent four years working in the Washington County Jail after joining the agency in 2004. Throughout his career, he has contributed to several specialized teams, including the Canine Team, Tactical Negotiations Team, Mobile Field Force, and the Corrections Emergency Response Team. He has also served as a Defensive Tactics Instructor, Drug Recognition Expert, and member of the Court Security team.

His broad experience and commitment to public safety position him well to support the North Plains community during this transition.
