This week, the General Assembly team was in Baltimore, making important preparations for the 2025 UUA General Assembly. The visit was a productive opportunity to ensure that this gathering will be a meaningful, accessible, and sustainable experience for all attendees—both in person and online.
The team toured key venues, including the Baltimore Convention Center and several host hotels, to finalize plans for accessibility and sustainability. These visits allowed us to evaluate venue layouts, address accessibility needs such as mobility-friendly seating and assistive listening devices, and confirm accommodations for nursing parents and families with young children.
Sustainability efforts were a major focus, with in-depth discussions about waste reduction, green catering practices, and energy-efficient operations. The team collaborated with local partners and service providers to align with our commitment to environmental responsibility.
Community engagement was another highlight of the visit. We connected with local organizations to explore partnerships and opportunities to celebrate Baltimore’s vibrant culture, including Pride and Juneteenth events that coincide with the 2025 General Assembly.
A special shout-out to the Local Area Task Force, a dedicated team of UUs from the region, for their invaluable contributions during the site visit. Your local expertise and thoughtful input are helping us shape a meaningful and welcoming General Assembly experience for all!
This site visit brought us one step closer to welcoming Unitarian Universalists to Baltimore from June 18–22, 2025. We’re excited to gather, connect, and explore together in this dynamic and historic city.
