IMPORTANT! Attendance this week: it is very important that everyone attend school every week; but especially this week. The State of Florida will use our daily attendance THIS WEEK to calculate how much money our school will receive. Even excused absences hurt us. The higher the attendance this week, the more money our school gets. So please spread the word to try your best to attend all classes (especially 1st block) this week, so we can get more money for our school.
Free after school tutoring has begun. It will be every Wednesday in the media center from 2:30-3:30 pm.

Keep Protecting Students from Zika Virus
Miami-Dade County Public Schools and Beach High administration encourage parents to continue to exercise daily protective measures, such as applying repellent to your child before arriving to school and wearing protective clothing, such as long-sleeve shirts and long pants. This is especially important in the morning, at the beginning of the school day, when mosquitoes are more active. Remember to consult your doctor or health care provider before using any type of insect repellent. Infected mosquitoes were originally found in some locations near the school, including Prairie Avenue and Convention Center Drive. Although testing is regularly being carried out in our City, mosquitoes move, and not all of them get caught in the traps. Here is the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) Zika prevention webpage: cdc.gov/zika/prevention

A Voice for Parents
The School Improvement Place box was created to give
parents a chance to provide their input regarding the school as a whole, and to give them a feeling
of efficacy, knowing that there is a place for their voices to be heard and their concerns addressed.
Parents see the school from a different perspective than the faculty and staff, therefore, they have the ability to provide insight to which the faculty and staff do not have access. They are also able to provide ideas and solutions to issues/concerns that they feel need addressing. In the spirit of "It takes a village to raise a child," it is our belief that if we involve ALL stakeholders in the decision-making process we will be better able to provide our students with the best possible education. Some of the potential benefits of the S.I.P. box: * Improved communication between members of the community and the administration * Improved working (school) conditions for faculty, staff, and students * Improved procedures, productivity, and/or efficiency of the school as a whole * Improved safety and communication * Improved services and effectiveness of those services * Improved relations with our local community Our motto for the S.I.P. box is: "Try a S.I.P. ... It Just Might Help!"
The School Improvement Box is located in the main office. Questions? Email Mr. Hession at [email protected].
