| | | Building Momentum on DNS Abuse: What to Expect at ICANN86 | | |
Momentum is building across the ICANN community to strengthen DNS Abuse mitigation, and all eyes are on ICANN86. Following the Generic Names Supporting Organization Council’s August 2025 request, the Final Issue Report was delivered in record time, paving the way for the DNS Abuse Mitigation Policy Development Process. Since launching in late 2025 and beginning deliberations at ICANN85, the Working Group has made steady progress.
At ICANN86, four dedicated sessions will drive this work forward (8–11 June), alongside a Prep Week webinar on 20 May. These sessions are expected to mark a key milestone: completing initial deliberations and moving toward stable language on the first six charter questions.
As the community continues to push for stronger safeguards, ICANN86 offers an opportunity to shape practical, consensus-driven solutions to DNS Abuse. Reminder: ICANN86 Registration Deadlines
ICANN86 will take place 8–11 June 2026 in Seville, Spain, and virtually. In-person registration closes on 7 June, while virtual registration closes on 11 June. On-site registration will not be available.

| | | | ICANN Board Adopts FY27 Operating and Financial Plans | | |
In its meeting on 3 May 2026, the ICANN Board of Directors adopted the ICANN Fiscal Year 2027–2031 (FY27–31) Operating and Financial Plan, the ICANN FY27 Operating Plan and Budget, and the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority FY27 OP&B. The plans are available on the ICANN Financial and Planning Information page.
Under ICANN's Bylaws, the Empowered Community may consider whether to reject any of the plans adopted by the ICANN Board. If no Empowered Community rejection process is pending, the plans will go into effect on 1 July 2026.

| | DNS Abuse Mitigation PDP 1 Update | | |
In December 2025, the GNSO Council initiated the Policy Development Process (PDP) on DNS Abuse Mitigation with a focus on associated domain checks. This DNS Abuse Mitigation PDP 1 Working Group held its kickoff meeting at ICANN85 Mumbai and has since made good progress on its charter questions. During this Prep Week session, the PDP 1 leadership will give an update to the community on progress made to-date and what to expect at ICANN86 Seville.

| | Review of Reviews: Contribute to the Draft Report | | |
Join the Review of Reviews Cross Community Group (CCG) to hear about the refreshed system of reviews proposed in its draft report. Use this opportunity to ask your clarifying questions and provide input. The Review of Reviews CCG is a collaborative effort that brings together the ICANN Supporting Organizations and Advisory Committees, ICANN Board, and ICANN org to conduct a fundamental evaluation of reviews set out in the ICANN Bylaws, with the intended purpose of enhancing ICANN's accountability, transparency and effectiveness.

If you’re new to ICANN or just want to refresh your knowledge about how ICANN and ICANN meetings work, these two ICANN Learn courses have you covered:
