Greetings!


Back to School season is here, and the library is the perfect partner for starting the year off strong. Whether your family is gathering school supplies or building new routines, we are here with the books, resources, and programs to keep everyone learning, growing, and connected.


This month, we are especially excited to celebrate Library Card Sign-up Month. A library card is more than just a card, it is your passport to discovery, creativity, and opportunity. If you have not signed up yet, now is the perfect time, and if you already have one, encourage a friend or neighbor to join.


September is also Voter Registration Month, and we are proud to host programs that encourage civic participation. Stop by our table at the Hoboken Farmers’ Market on September 16 for National Voter Registration Day, or attend one of our candidate forums later in the month to hear directly from those shaping our city’s future.


And of course, do not forget to save the date for our annual Library Festival on Saturday, September 20. We will have book signings, crafts, music, performances, and so much more, a true celebration of community, stories, and connection.


No matter your age or stage of life, the library is here to support your next chapter. We cannot wait to see you this fall!

Upcoming Civic Engagement Series

Keep an eye on Hoboken Public Library’s socials and website for the launch of registration for our Civic Engagement Series! This is your chance to make your voice heard and get to know the candidates before Election Day on Tuesday, November 4.


Need to register to vote?

We’ll be at the Hoboken Farmers’ Market on Tuesday, September 16 in Church Square Park with voter registration forms and information. You can also register online anytime here.

Join us for a community Audiobook Walk! We’ll meet at the Book Drop in front of the Library and take a 30–45 minute walk to Northwest Resiliency Park, loop around, and head back together. Bring your own device and enjoy listening to an audiobook as we walk. If you need help setting up your device or selecting an audiobook, please stop by the Library beforehand (we open at 10:00 a.m.)


Children 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult, as this program takes place outside the Library building.

In Japanese culture, paper cranes are symbols of peace, hope, and healing. After 9/11, people across New York City created and shared paper cranes as a way to come together and show support.


Inspired by this tradition, we invite families to join Ms. Elbie in making colorful paper cranes that will be displayed on the 3rd Floor of the Library in remembrance. This drop-in program is open to kids and teens, offering a creative way to reflect, connect, and share hope through art.
