Marylanders — Get ready for Tax Hikes! According to the Maryland Public Policy Institute, tax hikes are coming.

A Commission met to discuss a 'Mileage Tax’. In other words, charging you for the number of miles driven. 

Allegedly, the Mileage Tax would be for transportation. But, we know it’s really to pay for more out-of-control spending in Annapolis. 

Here’s the background: Ten years ago, the Maryland General Assembly tied the gas tax to inflation. Each year, when inflation rises, so does the gas tax. 

Instead of a constantly increasing gas tax, the State of Maryland is looking to raise more money in the form of a Mileage Tax.  Put simply, the Democrats intend to levy a Mileage Tax in addition to the gas tax.  

Don’t be fooled by Governor Wes Moore's decree that all new car sales in Maryland must be electric-only. 

Remember, their goal is to raise more money, not less. 

This raises the question: How will the State track your mileage?

Calvert Board of Elections: Notice of Public Hearing

My office received the following notice from the Calvert County Board of Elections:

At a special meeting on September 12, 2023 at 7:00 pm, the Calvert County Board of Elections will consider the following listed below.

• Changing the precinct boundary between Precinct 1-3 and Precinct 1-4.
• Changing the location of the polling place for Precinct 1-5 from Patuxent Appeal Elementary Campus, 35 Appeal Ln., Lusby to Southern Community Center, 20 Appeal Ln., Lusby.
• Changing the location of the polling place for Precinct 1-7 from Mill Creek Middle, 12200 Southern Connector Blvd., Lusby to Patuxent High School, 12485 Southern Connector Blvd., Lusby.
• Changing the location of Precinct 3-6 from Northern Middle School, 2954 Chaneyville Rd., Owings to Northern High School, 2950 Chaneyville Rd., Owings.
• Changing the location of Precinct 3-7 from Fairview Vote Center, 8120 Southern Maryland Blvd., Owings to Northern High School, 2950 Chaneyville Rd., Owings.

The meeting is open to the public and will be held in the auditorium at the Calvert Pines Senior Citizen Center located at 450 W Dares Beach Rd., Prince Frederick; and the meeting link to join via zoom is https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81209921390.

The comment period will stay open for 10 days after this event. Comments may be sent by mail to Calvert County Board of Elections P.O. Box 798, Prince Frederick, MD. 20678 or emailed to elections@calvertcountymd.gov.
