Family Day is Coming to Plymouth Avenue

Friday, August 27th!

Family Day was initiated in the summer of 1989 as an alternative to other city festivals that were often cost prohibitive for families who sought Urban League services. It has grown since then to a highly anticipated Twin Cities celebration. For one full day Plymouth Avenue between Penn and Logan is transformed into an urban festival and community resource fair.

On Saturday, August 27th from Noon to 7pm Plymouth Avenue between Penn and Logan will be the site of the 32nd annual celebration of Family Day. The theme, "My Family, My Community. Together We Stand," is meant to emphasize the responsibility of all of us to create a safe, healthy environment where families can thrive and grow.

'Vendor Avenue' is a Family Day mainstay! We invite nonprofit agencies, local businesses and entrepreneurs, church groups, clubs, elected officials, e.g., to apply for a booth space and line up along Plymouth Avenue for the opportunity to engage directly with the community and share vital information with families.

SIGN UP TO BE A FAMILY DAY VOLUNTEER

We need 100 volunteers to make sure children and families can enjoy a safe, stress free day of fun! Opportunities include: Set-Up, Take-Down, Kids Zone, Crown Control, Stage, and On-Call. Please consider at least a two-hour commitment to Family Day. Volunteers are provided a meal and receive the commemorative Family Day t-shirt.

GOT TALENT? APPLY TO PERFORM ON THE FAMILY DAY MAINSTAGE

The Family Day Mainstage features local talent and some of the Twin Cities' best live band performances. If you've got talent, we invite you to apply to perform on the Mainstage. A recording or link to a sample of your talent may be required.
