It's a Great Time to Shop...

A Minute from the Manager
|
Things are changing at the Market and we’re so excited to see what’s around the corner for the holidays!
But I wanted to make you aware of a new addition to our Market. We’ve added message boards. What you will find on each board is this: “What’s Fresh Today” is a listing of produce and foods that will be fresh on that Saturday. We will also have the featured farmer shared with you and if they are providing cooking demonstrations. On the other board, you will find “Word of the Day” and “Phrase of the Day” – this is really just my way to post daily encouragement to those who walk into the Market during the week, and for all our guests on Saturday.
Mark your calendar for November 30, the Saturday following Thanksgiving. We will be hosting “A Very Merry Market” outside of the Farmers Market on the green space. A Merry Very Market is a time to celebrate the holidays!! We will be showing Christmas movies on an outdoor movie screen, food trucks will provide delicious meals for you and the family, live Christmas trees will be for sale, and there will be plenty of hot cocoa, cider, and other delicious beverages. Inside the market, we will have Santa Claus from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and kids can get a fun photo with him, too. There will be arts and crafts vendors and farmers also in the market so you can get some early holiday shopping in and even gather up some fresh produce, meats, and scrumptious breads and honey. We wanted to give families something to do together during the Thanksgiving weekend that would be fun and allow them time to buy a tree, watch an outdoor movie, and simply enjoy some memory-making time together.
I hope to see you at the "Very Merry Market."
In Growing Gratitude,
Lisa

Make the Best of This Holiday Season at the Market
|
Thanksgiving is next week, and many of us are starting to feel the sensations of the holiday spirit already. Whether you're looking forward to a Thanksgiving smorgasbord, fun drives around town to look at Christmas lights, or creating New Year's resolutions for a better year, this is a great time to reflect on your life, family, and the beauty of traditions that we create and change over time. This is a season for giving, appreciating, and loving, and the Mississippi Farmers Market is a great place that can help you do all three. Give quality time to your loved ones by bringing them with you on your Market visits. Show our local farmers that you appreciate them by giving thanks and supporting their businesses. Then, prepare wholesome holiday meals for your loved ones (a great way of expressing love).
Upcoming Christmas Tree Event
On November 30, stop by the Mississippi Farmers Market for a live Christmas tree and a wreath (or two)! All the trees available will be trees grown right here in Mississippi, so not only are you buying a fresh tree, but your are also supporting a local Christmas tree farm family! On this day, the Market will have extended hours, being open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., thus giving you more schedule flexibility to come out and shop for all kinds of fresh produce, meats, and dairy products. Of course, you must check out the locally-produced arts and crafts, too!
While you're at the Market, don't forget to grab some hot chocolate, cider, or flavored coffees, and enjoy the outdoor movie Christmas movies. When you get hungry after the Farmer's Table closes, there will be food trucks to fulfill the needs of your taste buds. Before you leave, snap a selfie with Santa, and hashtag your photos on social media with these hashtags: #AVeryMerryMarket and #MSFarmersMarket!
All holiday festivities will occur between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., and vendors will be selling from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Bring friends and family. This is meant to be a fun, special Christmas tree-shopping moment!

Thanksgiving Dinner Conversations
|
|
We all know it. When the holidays roll around, families gather. Some come in from out of town, and some come over from across the street. Sometimes, the diverse mix of age groups and personal interests can make the dinner topics "unbalanced" for some. However, great food combined with fun conversations will lead to quality time for everyone! To help you out, check out these fun, interesting topics that you can bring to the dinner table on Thanksgiving Day to keep everyone talking and laughing!
