“Opportunities to Grow”

One of my greatest joys is seeing the growth of the men and women in our long-term discipleship programs. This past Wednesday I had the privilege of hearing from one of the women in the Healing Heart Program, Leah. She presented a study at our staff meeting on a particular sin in her life. She shared what God’s Word says about this sin, and created an action plan based upon the Word of God to fight it. As I listened to her, she was clearly not the same woman who checked in this summer. She said, “I no longer look at problems as just trials I have to deal with but rather I am being given an opportunity to grow.”  Leah’s comment reminded me of the great hymn writer William Cowper’s famous words, “Behind a frowning providence He hides a smiling face.” God is always at work in and through our lives and He is doing a great work in the lives of men and women at the Columbus & Living Water Rescue Mission.

The Columbus & Living Water Rescue Mission receives absolutely no federal, state, or local government money but relies solely upon God through your generosity. Would you please consider giving a one-time or recurring monthly donation to the Columbus & Living Water Rescue Mission in Columbus and York so that we may continue bringing the hope of the Gospel to our communities?

Doug is Defeating Giants
Our disciples come to us in various degrees of brokeness. One way to become whole again is by realizing what God can do in your life and by admitting that you have giants (sins) in your past that you need to defeat with God's Almighty power and strength. Luke, our Men's Ministry Leader, glorifies the Lord each and every day here at the mission by helping these gentlemen become focused more and more on God and what He is doing in their lives.

Here, Doug (right) is sharing his giant with the staff of the mission while Luke looks on.

The March meeting will be held on Thursday, March 26th. We meet in York the 2nd Thursday of every month at 7:00 PM at the Living Water Rescue Mission. The March meeting in York will be held on Thursday, March, 12th.  If you have any prayer requests or questions please call Karen in Columbus 402-563-1096 or Diane in York 402-362-6171.
Ephesians 6:18 - And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
Chaplain Nathan encourages the Disciples to come to his office and discuss their spiritual walks with him. This is such a positive experience for the men who God has sent to the program at the mission.

Would You Please Consider Volunteering at the Columbus and Living Water Rescue Mission?

"Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms."  1 Peter 4:10

With busy lives it can be hard to find time to volunteer, however the benefits of volunteering can be enormous to you, your family, and the Rescue Missions
in Columbus & York. We are currently in need of evening chapel leaders – ½ hour a month or weekly blesses us greatly. We also have some nights available on our calendar to bring in an evening meal. On occasion we need people to drive guests to an appointment or job interview. We can always use painters and fixer-uppers. Finally, there is a need for translators for our Spanish speaking guests.

If you would like to be blessed and also be a blessing, please call Karen in Columbus at 402-563-1096 or LaVerna in York at 402-362-0127.

As we are a 501 c 3, we accept no state or federal assistance. Please consider Him as you consider helping us.
