Get Ready to Getaway

More information than you need

Ellis Paul Photo.jpg

Dear Getaway Gang,

If you're wondering what the Folk Project Acoustic Getaway - Home Edition will be like, you're not alone. We're wondering, too, because this is our first.

We're providing a time, a place, concerts, workshops, traditions, and some truly wonderful artists. But we're relying on you to bring the spirit of community, friendship, and participation that made the "real" Getaway such a great event.

We expect the Home Edition to be different, but we also expect to have a great time. Let's make some music!

Your hosts,

Mark, Robin & Diane

Speaking of COVID!

Who said anything about COVID?

No Fuss Photo.jpeg

The Folk Project requires proof of vaccination for all participants. It has specific additional guidelines for Morris County's current orange risk level.

Our protocols include:

  • All workshops, meals, and snacking will be outdoors, where masking is encouraged, but optional.
  • All three concerts will be indoors, where N95 or equivalent masks are required, unless you are performing or leading a workshop. Masks will be available for those who don't have one.
  • If it rains, we'll have canopies and attempt to remain outdoors for workshops and meals.
  • We all assume the risk of catching COVID whenever we attend group events, including this one, so we agree to hold the Folk Project and its volunteers harmless if we do.

If you are not comfortable with the current risk level or our evolving guidelines, please email Getaway@FolkProject.org. We will answer your concerns and questions. Or we'll cancel your reservation and refund your money - but, sorry, then we can't re-fun your good times.

Volunteering

We're all in this together

Heather Pierson Acoustic Trio Photo 2.jpg

Getaway Home is a guerrilla operation, with an operational staff of only three, but all 50 of you are on the auxiliary staff.

  • Please pitch in in between workshops if you can and when you can.

  • Throughout the weekend, we'll be moving chairs, tables, dinnerware, food, and people. Many hands make light work.
  • We're providing lunch and dinner on Saturday and lunch on Sunday, but please bring goodies and drinks for the snack table, just like in the old days.

Fun Facts

  • Home Edition has three main concerts, just like the old days.
  • Jay’s Off the Charts, Lessons by Loy, The Story Slam, Mike’s Themes in a Hat, Frank’s Easy Jazz Chords for Folkies, and The Sherm Jam - all perennial Getaway favorites - are back.
  • Saturday and Sunday performers will lead workshops, as will Toby Walker, James Cleveland, and the Project's own Christine DeLeon.
  • We are debating changing our home's name from “The Schafferosa” to “SchaffePAC,” (The Schaffer Performing Arts Center) because we’re silly.
