Can you feel it? Spring is in the air. Longer days and warmer weather feel like they are just around the corner. Excitement is stirring as the country begins to have a renewed sense of hope for the future and recovery from the pandemic.

There have been many questions in regards to safety protocols moving forward for the National Conference in Saskatoon this coming June. Please see the below update.

As guidance regarding vaccination verification and face coverings varies by local jurisdiction and may continue to change, attendees should review and follow the mandated regulations of the Federal Government of Canada, Saskatchewan Health Authority, and the Delta Saskatoon Downtown at the time of the event.

Attendees will no longer be required to show proof of vaccination status in order to attend the 2022 Culinary Federation National Conference. In addition, guests are no longer required to wear face coverings or physical distance in indoor or outdoor areas of the hotel. Any guests who feel more comfortable continuing to wear face coverings and physical distance (where possible) are encouraged to do so.

To ensure everyone’s comfort, the conference committee will have a program in place for our delegates to communicate their preferred level of interaction at the conference. There will be a colour coded sticker system for our delegates to choose from to affix to their badges, so we can navigate reconnection in a way that suits us all.

RestoBiz (the online home of Canadian Restaurant & Foodservice News) recently published a fascinating feature on one of our conference program highlights, Wanuskewin Heritage Park. Be sure to head over to their website to have a read!

As always, thank you for your continued support and membership, if there is anything you want to discuss regarding the Culinary Federation and your membership experience, please contact me at president@culinaryfederation.ca

Look Who's Attending!
We're thrilled to announce that members of Junior Culinary Team Canada and Community Catering Team Canada will be joining us in Saskatoon to showcase their talents and practice their craft - as part of the culinary team (along with National Culinary Team Canada) presenting our President's Dinner on June 16th at PrairieLand Park! We will also get to enjoy their delicacies at other events throughout the entire conference.

Junior Culinary Team Canada and Community Catering Team Canada have a long history of being a training ground for many talented chefs. Many of Canada's top chefs have taken advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime experience to learn new skills, make priceless connections and put Canada on the top tier of the World Culinary Scene.

Both teams are managed by none other than Chef JC Felicella (CF Chef of the Year in 2010 and 2017) who leads his teams with a strong foundation of knowledge, creativity and intuitive wisdom based on 35+ years of experience in culinary arts.

Each team member will sacrifice hours of personal time and work very hard on their craft to grow tremendously throughout the years leading to the World Culinary Olympics in Stuttgart, Germany. Behind the team lies many other volunteers, including managers, coaches, support members as well as alternates. Training these young minds is our main goal, allowing us to advance Canadian cuisine to higher levels every year and every generation.

The constant support of the Culinary Federation is a reminder of the dedication and focus the Federation has on the younger chef generation. To be able to showcase the talents of our young chefs at the conference is not only an amazing experience for the young team, but a true honour.

The team will be in Luxembourg in November 2022 at the ExpoGast International Gastronomy, followed by the Culinary World Olympics in 2024, the largest, oldest, and most colourful international exhibition of culinary arts with chefs from all over the world competing.
