Dear Friends,
Get Ready to Spring Into Nesting Season! A great way to use extra time inside during the winter is to get all of your backyard bird items ready for spring. Use this time to clean your hummingbird and oriole feeders to make sure you catch these visitors on the first pass through. I always find myself scrambling around April 1st searching and digging for my hummingbird feeders, making sure they are cleaned and ready to go.
Now is a good time to pick up any new nesting and feeding items you’d like to have for your feathered visitors this spring. Visit us and see the great selection of wild bird items in our garden center. We can help you choose items to suit the needs of your favorite types of birds.
Winter is a great time to get the kids involved and there are many inside activities to do involving birding. I have memorable times in the past of assembling and putting together a birdhouse with my Grandpa Hillermann. You can easily use a pattern or a kit to build new birdhouses. Grab some paint and brushes and let your kids or grand-kids decorate the outside to give it a special touch. Then, you can put your houses up outside when the weather breaks and be ready for nesting season. Come by and see all the birding items we have to help you assist and attract the wild birds!
