Your move-in time slot (and answers to some FAQs)

You can now choose your move-in time! Please see the email you received earlier today (August 13) for instructions.

Most students will move in on Saturday, September 5, with 2-hour time slots beginning at 8 am. A limited number of spots are available to move in on Friday, September 4, for a pro-rated fee. Move-in time slots are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

REMINDER! Before you register for your move-in time slot, you must:

  • Upload your photo for your student ID card – it can take at least 24 hours for your photo to be verified. See the email you received from the Office of the University Registrar for instructions.

  • Sign the Residence Contract during your time slot selection process. We expect that you read and understand your Contract prior to signing it – it outlines expectations for all members of our residence community.

Move-in FAQs

Q: If I’m in an early move-in group, do I need to pick a time slot?

Students living in Residence will receive their student card when they pick up their keys during move-in.

Complete your mandatory online modules

New link! Pre-Arrival Module

Before moving in, all students must complete the Residence Pre-Arrival Module. This short module will help you learn about residence expectations, available supports, and your role in fostering an inclusive living and learning environment.

It Takes All of Us

We all have a role in helping to prevent sexual violence. To demonstrate your commitment to creating a safe and inclusive living and learning environment here at Queen’s, you are required to complete the It Takes All Of Us online learning program before September 7, 2026.

If some of the content is difficult to review, you can skip various modules or contact Sexual Violence and Prevention Response Services if you require assistance.

Before you bring it: Sustainable Move-In Tips!

You can have a positive impact on your very first day. Being mindful of what you bring to Residence can help create a more sustainable space for you and your campus community.

Before you arrive, unwrap, unpack, and leave the extra packaging at home. No one wants to start the year surrounded by a pile of boxes, plastic wrap, and styrofoam in their room or hallways.

Less waste in Residence means having more space for what really matters – making your room your own, finding your people, and building your community.

Buy your bed and bath linens

If you want to make your move-in a breeze, check out Campus Linens. They've got everything you need for a comfy stay, from bed linens to bath packages, and they'll deliver straight to your residence building!

Order your linens

Save the hassle with a rental fridge!

Rent your residence room fridge from Coldex! Coldex delivers and picks up your rental fridge, saving you time at move-in and move-out. Order by August 21 and your Coldex fridge will be in your room before you move in – it's that easy!

Remember to check your building details to ensure you order the right fit for your room. Note that Smith House, Brant House, and Endaayaan-Tkanónsote have in-room mini-fridges as a default amenity.

Important note about microwaves

Microwaves are prohibited from use anywhere in Residence, as are other small appliances (including but not limited to kettles, rice cookers, space heaters, etc.). Despite this prohibition on microwaves, you are permitted to possess a microwave rented from Coldex, a university-approved supplier, as part of an approved mini-fridge/microwave package. See your Residence Contract (section 4.10.12.f) for more information.
