First of all, THANK YOU (we'll be saying this a lot) to everyone who has reached out by email, phone, or in person, to express your support and offer help in one way or another, since last week's flood. We can't truly put into words how grateful we are for our community, but we hope you can feel that gratitude.

Andrea and Sandy have been working from their quickly assembled home office at Andrea's house to take care of logistical tasks relating to the flood and to make plans for getting back to the business of bookselling. 

We don't yet know how long it will be before we can move back into our South Main Street space and begin the physical work of rebuilding the bookstore, but in the meantime, we are going to be able to accept book orders with options for pickup in Hardwick or mailing to your home!

Our new, temporary, home will be part of the shared office space in the Gohl building at 101 South Main Street on the second floor (above Front Seat Coffee). There is easy access to this location from Holton Hill.

BEGINNING AUGUST 1, we will accept orders through our website - www.galaxybookshop.com; by phone - 802-472-5533; and by email - [email protected].

We do not have any inventory at this time: All book requests will be ordered, and we will mail them to you or arrange pick up during our office hours.

BEGINNING AUGUST 2, hours for phone calls and order pick up will be as follows:

Tuesday, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Wednesday, 2:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Thursday, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Friday, 2:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Saturday, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.

We hope that by varying hours between morning and afternoon, you will be able to find a convenient time to pick up your orders. If not, however, we can make arrangements for pick up at another location in town or we can mail them to you with a small additional shipping fee.

So many people have asked how they can help us. At the moment, the most important thing we can ask of you is that you continue to shop for books through The Galaxy Bookshop! Here are some other ways you can support our community bookstore.

While we have business insurance, there have already been some unexpected costs that will exceed our coverage.

We are running a GoFundMe campaign to raise money that will help us take care of those costs. If we end up raising more than we need, that extra money will be donated back to the community.
