This edition of the newsletter is being written and sent from our 2019 Spring Meeting. Our annual meeting, taking place this year at Wentworth by the Sea in New Castle, NH, includes a full program of technical sessions, exhibits, the Golf Outing, the Operations Challenge, and more. Follow along with us on social media and use #NEWEA19 when you post about the Spring Meeting.
This Spring Meeting is also uniquely special because it's the last week before Linda Austin, our beloved Office Administrator of 19 years, retires. Read more about her time with us in the news section below.
Once the Spring Meeting wraps up, NEWEA events will slow down a bit for the summer. We'll get busy in the fall again with specialty conferences on Small Communities, Residuals and Biosolids, and Information Technology/Asset Management. Our Public Education Committee will also be hosting a Teacher Training Workshop at the end of the summer.
Currently, we are accepting abstracts for these specialty conferences, as well as abstracts for our 2020 Annual Conference. Read more below to learn about topics being accepted and deadlines for submissions.
Check out the rest of the newsletter for more on committee news and upcoming events. Until next newsletter, have a great month and we hope to see you at some of our upcoming events.
As always, we invite you to contact Jordan Gosselin at jgosselin@newea.org with committee news and updates you would like to share in future editions.

Utility Management Seeks Abstracts
|
“Workforce Sustainability“ is a very important and challenging issue for managers who are tasked with keeping facilities operating, providing engineering services and supporting the industry into the future. Managers are faced with the issue of an aging workforce, transferring institutional knowledge and bringing new workers into the water industry. The committee is currently requesting abstracts on workforce experiences; programs developed/implemented for workers; career paths; and increasing diversity in the workforce.

Happy Retirement, Linda!
As much of our membership knows, our Office Administrator Linda Austin will be retiring after this Spring Meeting. At the conclusion of this meeting, Linda will begin her retirement after 19 years with NEWEA.
In her time with the association, Linda has been the face of NEWEA, greeting members on the phone, in the office, and at meeting registration desks. If members had any question about NEWEA, Linda certainly knew the answer. We're so grateful for all of her work and contributions to the association.
We thank her for her nearly two decades of service to NEWEA and will greatly miss her. We wish her a happy and healthy retirement filled with lots of travel, hopefully including some trips to future Annual Conferences and Spring Meetings! Happy travels, Linda!
