NEW IBERIA, La. (September 27, 2017) --
The Institute of Classical Architecture & Art - Louisiana Chapter will be hosting a four-day foray along Bayou Teche to learn about the architecture and art of Iberia Parish. Along with decadent dinners, private tours and education opportunities, the ICAA-LA will also be including two lectures about Bayou Teche’s artistic evolution and personality.
As a special invitation to the public, the ICAA-LA would like to announce that those interested in classical art and architecture are invited to attend two of these lectures at the Sliman Theater in New Iberia on Nov. 3, 2017 for free.
The first lecture will begin at 9 a.m. "Bayou Teche Architecture – Primitive to Classical & Owen Southwell," by ICAA-LA Co-Chair and architect Eddie Cazayoux, FAIA. The next lecture will begin at 10 a.m. "Four Centuries of Art in the Teche Country (1780-2017)," by Southern Regional Art Historian, Claudia Kheel, MA.
These lectures are in conjunction with the fall 2017 foray, "Sugar & Spice: The Architecture & Art of Bayou Teche, Owen Southwell & Tabasco’s Avery Island." Those interested in signing up for the full fall 2017 foray (Nov. 2 - Nov. 5) are encouraged to purchase their tickets before the Oct. 26 deadline. ICAA member and non-ICAA member prices available at

Foray co-chair Peter W. Patout states, “As a native of Iberia Parish, where my roots run deep, I am excited to share this classical world of architecture and art of my beloved Bayou Teche country. Our foray participants will soon succumb to the exotic Eden of café au lait - colored bayous, sugar cane fields and live oaks draped in festoons of Spanish moss. This foray is an exposé to our national audience; one that will showcase the classical featurettes of our heritage on a scale never been seen in this area.”
This event is sponsored by the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art as well as Iberia Parish Convention & Visitors Bureau.
Seating for the lectures is limited, and pre-registration is required. To secure a seat, please contact Kelly Calhoun by calling (817) 676-6679 or email
