 A Cause for Hope
Since 2009, the Gastric Cancer Foundation has been focused on funding research to improve treatments and find a cure for gastric cancer.  From creating the first Gastric Cancer Registry in 2011 to launching the Clinical Trials Navigator in 2018, Gastric Cancer Foundation has grown in leaps and bounds from the foundation laid by a single brave patient.

To mark this progress and celebrate the achievements of Gastric Cancer Foundation, we are bringing together a magical night of joy on November 9th in San Mateo. Join us for A CAUSE FOR HOPE.

Registration Deadline: October 26th

Fuel Up with Fall Flavors
In our next nutrition series episode, board member and "Chef without a Stomach," Hans Rueffert, shares how to make some of the simple and nutritious meals that have helped him as a gastric cancer survivor.

This month, Hans prepares a healthy and hearty fall salad with roasted acorn squash and pumpkin seeds. A dollop of cranberry sauce adds a citrus punch and creates a beautiful festive color.

Special thanks to Merck & Co., Inc. for supporting this video series through an educational grant. Subscribe on YouTube so you never miss an episode!
Research Roundup
In gastric cancer research news this month, an interesting study published in PLOS ONE identifies a specific H. pylori strain associated with gastric cancer risk. Read the article here.

A new study in Cancer Treatment Reviews discusses therapeutic advances and research directions for gastric cancer to update algorithms used in everyday practice.

Also published in Cancer Treatment Reviews, scientists identified prognostic factors for using hepatectomy (liver removal) when treating some gastric cancer patients - with the liver  being   a common site for gastric cancer recurrence. Read the full study here.

Raise Awareness During Gastric Cancer Awareness Month
Get ready for Gastric Cancer Awareness Month in November! How will you participate this year? Think about hosting an event or fundraiser to educate people about gastric cancer and raise funds for our work.

Small efforts can make a big difference. It just takes someone to provide the initial momentum. Like Stacy Millich, who recently hosted her 4th annual "Guts and Butts" Beach Clean-Up in honor of her late husband, John Gyselbrecht. This year's fun gathering of friends and family raised over $10,000 for the Foundation's work. Each of us can make a difference in the search for a cure.
