Get started on your Cultural Facilities grant application early


The voter-approved State Cultural Facilities Grant Program's application is now available and open on our website. The matching-grant program supports projects that promote careful planning for capital improvements, preservation, renovations and new construction.


Project proposals that address accessibility, help buildings conform with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), update building and fire codes, increase energy efficiency, and grow programming capacity are particularly encouraged.

To ensure that your application is submitted by the Oct. 1 deadline, you are encouraged to get started on it as early as possible and make sure all materials are uploaded to the portal. We are here to answer your questions and give application assistance. Some ways to get help are:

Applications are open for R.I. 250th Community and Statewide Engagement Grant Program

Rolling deadline is between now and Jan. 31, 2026


The Rhode Island Semiquincentennial Commission (RI250) is launching a grant program to support vibrant, inclusive and collaborative public programming in honor of the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution.


Open to two types of applicants:


  • Local 250 Committees are officially designated or recognized by their municipal government or local governing body.
  • Statewide Grants are available to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, including regional or statewide organizations, cultural institutions, educational institutions, or coalitions of multiple partners in which a 501(c)(3) nonprofit is the lead applicant.


Deadline and application timeline:


  • The program will have rolling applications between now and Jan. 31, 2026.
  • There will be two review cycles approximately every 8 to 12 weeks, with review dates on or around Oct. 1 and Jan. 31, 2026.
  • The final deadline for an application is by 11:59 p.m. on Jan. 31.
  • All projects must be completed by Dec. 31, 2026.
  • Award caps for each review cycle will be determined by the RI250 Commission's Executive Committee and based on availability of funds.


Note: No more than $250,000 to be awarded in each round.
