Trust in the Lord with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:5-6
From the Executive Director

Dear Friends of ABM,

It’s Summer and God has blessed us with beautiful weather and the sun shining bright upon all of our lives. Summer is fun time that gives us the opportunity to reconnect with our kids during their summer break from School. Families are traveling, going to the beach, planting, BBQ’ing and gathering together over fire tables. For me, I am reminded that God is shining his greatest gift on all of us. The gift of caring, loving, finding pure joy in one another, and enjoying the treasures of life.

As Summer continues, and time goes on, we truly find ourselves blessed. We have been fortunate enough to continue moving forward throughout this difficult time. The pandemic has affected us all. Like you, we were deeply impacted by Washington's Governor decision to shut down our state in 2020. But you have helped us persevere and providing us the opportunity to continue serving our patrons with your support. Our doors have stayed open, our wheels have kept turning, and our operations have continued focusing on building a sustainable nonprofit organization.

Our focus from now until December, is communication and developing our outreach efforts. We want to do more to let you know what we are doing, what is happening around this nonprofit and how we are moving forward. We have recently hired Laurie van der Roest to be our Communications and Outreach Coordinator. You’ll begin to hear from us regularly. As we are opening up more, we look forward to meeting many new friends at our local churches to spread our mission of what we are all about. Our website is going through some light changes and we are excited to upload our latest promotional video. Be sure to join us on Facebook by clicking on the FB logo below.

Stay tuned and I ask that we pray for our country and that we all stay healthy.

Thank You,
Join us at our Next Fundraising Event

New Staff

Hi my name is Laurie van der Roest (Vicars)
After working as a contractor for the last 7 years as the audiobook editor, I'm excited to join the team at AUDIOBOOK Ministries as the new Communication and Outreach Coordinator. I am married to, Raymond, and I am a mom of 4 great kids ages 4-14. I have wanted to join the team for a while now, and I am eager to help our Executive Director (Martin Moore) carry on the legacy of my father, Greg Vicars (former Executive Director).
Volunteer Spotlight

"Hi, My name Carolyn Myers I started narrating for AUDIOBOOK Ministries in 2007, after a friend in my Bible Study suggested I audition as a way of using my talent for reading to kids. I taught primary grades for 34 years. Now I enjoy getting together with friends!!  One of my favorite authors is Karen Barnett who wrote a series of three books about national parks. They are fictional stories with park history, people's lives, and trust in our Lord all woven together.     Thanks", Carolyn Myers
Looking for a Home...

Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Seattle has been a great friend to AUDIOBOOK Ministries. This wonderful church has provided space for our library and office, free of charge! Now the church needs the site for another use, and AUDIOBOOK Ministries is eagerly looking for a new home. Please pray that God will provide a new location to house AUDIOBOOK Ministries.
We're looking for 1000 square feet near Burien, Normandy Park or South Seattle so we can stay close to the volunteers who make this ministry possible. If you have possible leads on available space, or if you want to donate money for the move, your help will be much appreciated!

How Purchases at Amazon Benefits ABM

Do you shop on Amazon? It's that time of the year where it is back to school and if you are planning to buy school supplies then you can shop and support ABM at the same time. Did you know that AUDIOBOOK MINISTRIES can benefit from eligible purchases any time of year?

Simply go to Amazon Smiles and sign in (or create an Amazon account). This will take you to Amazon Smiles, and you can shop like you would normally do. Be sure to bookmark this website so you can be sure to order from www.smile.amazon.com every time you shop. AUDIOBOOK MINISTRIES will receive 0.5% of eligible purchases.

Kroger Rewards Benefit ABM
If you shop at Fred Meyer stores and have a Rewards Card, you can now link your card to AUDIOBOOK MINISTRIES, so that we can benefit from the dollars that you spend shopping at Fred Meyer. Fred Meyer Community Rewards donates up to $625,000 per quarter to non-profits throughout Alaska, Idaho, Oregon and Washington. Customers will continue to receive the Rewards Points, Rebates and Fuel Points they're used to getting, but now their dollars will earn donations to ABM.
Signing up is simple: to link your card, click here and click on the purple "Link your Rewards card now" box. After logging in (or creating an online account), search for AUDIOBOOK MINISTRIES or enter our Non-profit Organization (NPO) number 86677. Complete the signup process and you will be good to go! Feel free to share this information with anyone you know who also shops at Fred Meyer.
How You Can Help Us?
Matching Gifts: Your gift can be doubled, or even tripled, if you or your spouse work for a company with a matching gift program. All you need to do is ask your human resources office for information.
Tribute Gifts: What better way to honor someone special than to make a donation to Audio Book Ministries? This works for celebrating a special birthday or other milestone as well as a memorial. We list these donations in our newsletter every quarter.

Bequests: Have you thought about where you would like to leave your legacy? A charitable bequest can be tailored to a variety of circumstances, and it provides an unlimited deduction for estate tax purposes. In a last will and testament, you may stipulate a specific cash donation to Audio Book Ministries, or state a percentage of your gross assets. We also accept stock donations-just contact our office for the correct procedure and forms. As always, we thank you!
