May Newsletter
May 2022
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
From the Director

Dear Friends of ABM,

From the bottom of my heart, I want to say thank you to the people who donated, as well as to the people who are praying for the success of AUDIOBOOK Ministries. We still have a little time left for this Easter Giving Campaign.

Since the last newsletter, we have officially moved everything out of our old office and are settled into our new office at John Knox. It is nice! We are starting to feel like we are back in a our routine.

I want to give a shout out to all the people that helped make this move possible, and a special thanks to the staff for being patient with me as we have to iron things out with the move and myself as their new Director.

As we look forward to what God has planned for AUDIOBOOK Ministries, we are seeking your help to spread the news of AUDIOBOOK Ministries. I would love to come and share our story and what we have to offer to your community. We are also wishing to fill our board with new board members.

Yours in Christ,

Laurie van der Roest

The good news is…We are doing great with many very generous donors. We are coming to the end of our challenge on May 31st. Can you help?

You can join in this Easter Giving Campaign by sending a check to our new address at 109 SW Normandy Rd., Seattle, WA 98166 or click on the Donation application in this newsletter

A Prayer for Memorial Day:
Remembering Those Who Have Fought for Our Freedom

Freedom is a gift, it’s a treasure. And though we all may agree on that truth, it’s often easy to take for granted the greatest gifts that God has given us in our lives.

But those most precious gifts are never free. They came with a price. With sacrifice. They were worth fighting for. And are still worth fighting for today. Many brave men and women were willing to face hard battles in order for us to enjoy that gift of freedom today.
For all those who have protected our nation, for the men and women in uniform, together, we say “Thank You.”

Spotlight Volunteer

Carol Marshall

Carol is a mother to two and grandmother to five and great grandmother. She is a member at Highline Christian Church and serves as the Financial Secretary there. She is involved in BSF leadership and currently is leading a Bible study for women at Highline Christian Church.

A message from Carol, "I feel it is such a privilege to be able to serve the Lord here. And actually after being a volunteer for several years I was able to connect my dear 96 year old auntie to become a patron due to her macular degeneration. Not only am I serving the Lord but I’ve been able to bless her as well. "

Jo Etta Smith

My name is Jo Etta and I came to AUDIOBOOK Ministries as a volunteer in 2014. I was retired and had finished some traveling, but the needed something else to fill my time and be of service to something or someone. I saw a notice in my church’s bulletin about the need for volunteers, so I jumped at the opportunity.
In 2015 I was hired as the Operations Manager / Librarian. This was such a blessing for me. I love knowing the blessings that our work here is giving our patrons across the U.S. God has been so good to us and I am so thankful for his love, mercy, and grace.

We moved

Please make address changes to reflect our new temporary home at John Knox Presbyterian Church in Normandy Park.

The new address:
Looking for a Home...

In Seattle, Prince of Peace Lutheran Church has been a great friend to AUDIOBOOK Ministries. This wonderful church provided space for our library and office for over 20 years, free of charge!

We are now at John Knox Presbyterian Church as our temporary location. We are so very thankful for their continued support over the last 41 years. However, we still need to find us a forever home. Please pray that God will provide a new location to house AUDIOBOOK Ministries.
We're looking for 1000 square feet near Burien, Normandy Park, or South Seattle so we can stay close to the volunteers who make this ministry possible. If you have potential leads on available space, or if you want to donate money for the move or rent, your help will be much appreciated!

Customers will continue to receive the Rewards Points, Rebates, and Fuel Points they're used to getting, but now their dollars will earn donations to ABM.
Signing up is simple: to link your card, click here and click on the purple "Link your Rewards card now" box. After logging in (or creating an online account), search for AUDIOBOOK MINISTRIES or enter our Non-profit Organization (NPO) number 86677. Complete the signup process, and you will be good to go! Feel free to share this information with anyone you know who also shops at Fred Meyer.
How You Can Help Us?
Matching Gifts: Your gift can be doubled, or even tripled if you or your spouse work for a company with a matching gift program. All you need to do is ask your human resources office for information.
Tribute Gifts: What better way to honor someone special than to make a donation to AUDIOBOOK Ministries? This works for celebrating a special birthday or other milestones as well as a memorial. We list these donations in our newsletter every quarter.

Bequests: Have you thought about where you would like to leave your legacy? A charitable bequest can be tailored to a variety of circumstances, and it provides an unlimited deduction for estate tax purposes. In a last will and testament, you may stipulate a specific cash donation to AUDIOBOOK Ministries, or state a percentage of your gross assets. We also accept stock donations; just contact our office for the correct procedure and forms. As always, we thank you!
