National Computer Science Week
December 7 -13, 2020
Computer Science Education Week (CSEdWeek) is an annual call to action to inspire K-12 students to learn computer science, advocate for equity in computer science education, and celebrate the contributions of students, teachers, and partners to the field.

This year's theme, as part of the #CSforGood movement, is #CSForSocialJustice. Without access to computer science and STEM courses, underrepresented students have limited opportunities and aspirations to develop computing knowledge.

We have two virtual events taking place next week:

Hub Program Spotlight: #TakeItMakeIt
Last month, the Mid-Valley STEM-CTE Hub (MVSCH), in partnership with the Albany Public Library and the Linn County Library, held the first Take It Make It event. The Take It Make It events are an expansion of previous maker activities held monthly at the Albany Public Library. Supplies for all Take It Make It activities are purchased by MVSCH and distributed to the libraries in the consortium. In November, 300 bristle bot kits were distributed to kids throughout Linn County.

We're so happy to see these creative bristle bots shared by Lebanon Public Library! Visit http://www.midvalleystem.org/bristle-bots/ to see the instructions for November's bristle bot activity.

For December, we'll be making a paper circuit using copper wire and LED lights so students can make their own holiday greeting cards! Stay tuned to our website and social for more information!
