Colman Dock Replacement – Seattle
Colman Dock has opened to the public for the first time in over six years! The dock has been a part of Seattle's busy waterfront since it was constructed in 1882, but was closed in 2016 over structural concerns. Birch was a large part of this nearly half-billion-dollar revamp project.
The project utilized an innovative system of pontoon boats and powered lift pods to work around the clock, through tide changes, and finish the project on schedule with a great safety record—quite an accomplishment! Take a look at the article linked below for more details on the rehab project, and be sure take a look at this historical site of industry next time you visit Seattle's waterfront!
