Want Rent Stabilization To Survive Beyond June 15th?
GET ONTO OUR JUNE 1st ROLLING TOWN HALL TO ALBANY WITH COUNCIL MEMBER DAN GARODNICK
Big real estate money has poured into Albany to make certain that if rent laws are renewed, they are so weakened that within a few years any apartment now protected will no longer be eligible for rent stabilization. And they want to obliterate the Roberts ruling that has returned more than 4,000 Stuy Town and Peter Cooper apartments to rent-stabilization.
So get on our bus on Wednesday, June 1st, when dozens of tenant and housing groups will arrive in Albany to show Governor Cuomo and state legislators the faces of the people to whom affordable housing is a necessity.
ST/PCV neighbor and Council Member Dan Garodnick will lead the Tenants Association bus, conducting a rolling Town Hall Meeting to discuss the issues and plan strategy for the day. And because Roberts is of special interest to us, we'll be joining forces with tenants associations of several other apartment complexes that represent many re-stabilized residents.
DATE: WEDNESDAY, JUNE 1 DEPARTURE TIME: 7:15 AM PLACE: First Avenue and 18th Street (ESTIMATED TIME OF RETURN IS BETWEEN 6 AND 7 PM)
We'll have bottled water aboard, but pack your own sandwiches and nibbles to last you a long day. The comfortable coach bus has its own facility but we'll be making comfort stops, as well.
BE PART OF THE EFFORT THAT KEEPS PETER COOPER - STUY TOWN AFFORDABLE MIDDLE-CLASS HAVENS. EVERYONE COUNTS IN THIS EFFORT.
Please let us know we can count on you.
You can sign up for the bus ride or other activities by visiting our Tenants Action Calendar at the top of our Home Page at http://www.stpcvta.org/ and following the Albany Bus link. If you are bringing one or more fellow residents, be sure give us the total in your party and your contact details. A volunteer will contact you to confirm your ride.
Next Events:
Every Thursday Leafleting to protect ST/PCV residents at the Governor Cuomo's Midtown Office
Tuesdays and Saturdays Leafleting at the ST/PCV Entrances to encourage fellow tenants to contact Governor Cuomo.
Other Actions You Can Take:
Can't Make a Rally or Flyering Event?
Call Governor Cuomo's Midtown office at (212) 681-4580 and ask him to strengthen rent regulations without harming the Robert's decision.

Fax Governor's Cuomo (518) 486-9749 and ask him to strengthen rent regulations without harming the Robert's decision.
