July, 2021
Greetings,

I hope you are fully enjoying your summer! Be sure to schedule time away to relax and unwind. Read below to find why this is a necessity, not a luxury.

As we enter into the second half of 2021, I am happy to see our economy in far better shape than it was six months ago. Between an increase in vaccinations and massive stimulus benefits, we have sustained our market and mitigated a severe downturn. However, as unemployment benefits come to an end, we are entering a fierce job market that will shift how we recruit strong employees. I often hear how tough it is to find and maintain talent. Now is the time to concentrate on skill-set over work history. I thought it would be helpful to focus this month's newsletter on a new certification pathway that works in sync with on-the-job-training. Read on to find out more!

If you are receiving this for the first time, we provide a monthly dose of industry news, relevant topics to the workplace, and a little humor! If you wish to opt-out, please click the "unsubscribe" link at the bottom of this email.

As always, reach out to me with questions or inquiries. Together we can streamline your HVAC needs.
The Certified HVAC Professional (CHP-5)
The Certified HVAC Professional (CHP-5) is a new certification pathway designed to mesh a technician’s training and certification efforts with their on-the-job learning. This new way to earn NATE certification consists of five 30-question exams instead of our traditional 50-question core exam and 100-question specialty exam.

Each exam covers one of five different subject domains: HVAC Fundamentals, Electrical and Controls, Comfort and Airflow, Installation, and Service. NATE recommends taking the exams in order for the easiest progression, however technicians can take the exams in any order they choose...

Why Taking Vacation Time Is More Important Thank You Think
America’s dogged and determined work culture comes with a noteworthy side effect: the sacrifice of vacation days. According to Project Time Off, research reveals that over half of American employees leave their paid time off unused each year. While the number of vacations days used has increased slightly from a low of 16.8 to 17.4 days per year in 2018, it is still well below the long-term average of 20.3 days per year—a fact that studies suggest takes a toll on employee’s health and well-being.

You Need a Skills-Based Approach to Hiring and Developing Talent
With the global economy experiencing massive change, upskilling and reskilling have taken on a renewed sense of urgency. Success through these transitions requires major shifts in thinking about how hiring and employee development are done.

The economic toll of the Covid-19 pandemic is expected to leave more than 140 million people out of work and another 1.6 billion at risk of income loss. Unfortunately, many of the jobs lost simply won’t return...
