Fire Prevention Week: Stay aware and be prepared!

October 4–10 marks Fire Prevention Week. Keep an eye out for an email from your Residence Life Coordinator (RLC) with your building's specific evacuation procedures.

Evacuation Dos and Don'ts

Let’s work together to ensure a quick, calm, and coordinated response in case of emergency.

White checkmark on a green circle

DO:

  • Keep fire doors closed
  • Evacuate the building in a timely and orderly manner
  • Go to your designated muster point
  • Follow all staff directions
White "x" on a red circle

DO NOT:

  • Use elevators
  • Stand on the road
  • Go back inside until Campus Security gives the 'All-Clear' – even if the fire trucks have left!
A red "house for rent" sign is placed in front of a house

Don't rush to rent!

"Every fall, many students start to worry that they need to sign a lease right now for May or September of next year. You don’t... A thoughtful, steady approach will lead to a better rental experience and a better housing situation ahead."

Off-Campus Living Advisor, Mary Ann, breaks it down for us here!

National Custodian Day this Friday!

Tomorrow, Friday, October 2, is National Custodian Day – an opportunity to acknowledge our dedicated custodial staff who help care for our residence community every day.

Please take a moment to say hello, share a kind word, or offer a thank-you to the custodial staff in your building!
