Preseason
🗓 Monday, August 29-Friday, September 2
Preseason is required for all Upper School athletes participating in a fall sport; some teams will have double sessions. Note: there have been some changes made to the schedule sent out last month; please look closely at the updated schedule.
Decisions for placement on all varsity, junior varsity, and 3rds teams will be made either during preseason or by the first week of school based on students' performance during try-outs. Regardless of team placement, it is important to attend every practice.

If an athlete is sick during preseason or at any time during the season, they should stay home and notify the head coach and our Athletic Trainer, Alyssa Hart. They should also notify Alyssa prior to preseason if they are recovering from an injury. Attendance at preseason is required even if an athlete is injured.
⚠️ We must have completed health information on file for all students who plan to participate in pre-season practices.

  1. Students cannot participate in practice without the required health forms. There will be no exceptions. If you haven't already done so, please log in to Magnus Health to complete your child's health record.
  2. In addition, the ImPACT test is MANDATORY for all Upper School students participating in athletics. We use ImPACT Testing as a way to monitor an athlete's return to action after suffering a concussion. Impact testing will need to be completed at home prior to showing up at pre-season. Click here for details on how to complete the test. Tests can only be taken after you sign and submit the consent form that will be included in the forms sent through Magnus Health.
  3. Beaver takes the health and safety of our students very seriously and seeks to provide a safe return to activity after injury or illness including COVID-19. Due to the nature of the virus and its potential lasting health effects, a student with a recent positive COVID-19 diagnosis must undergo an assessment with their physician clearing them to return to athletics. This documentation can be shared with our Athletic Trainer, Alyssa Hart.
Lunch will be provided throughout the preseason week, and there will also be water on the fields at all practices. Students MUST bring their own personal water bottle to use throughout the season during practices and games.

In addition, students are responsible for all personal equipment they need for their sport (cleats, mouth guards, shin guards, field hockey sticks, volleyball knee pads, golf clubs, etc.) We recommend a change of practice clothes for the afternoon practices.
The fall season
FALL PRACTICE & GAME SCHEDULES ARE LIVE.
View them on the Teams & Schedules page of our website.
Regular season practices begin on Tuesday, September 6, and conclude on Friday, November 11—pending any postseason tournaments for varsity teams. Schedules change throughout the season, so be sure to check the Beaver website regularly for all practice and game details. (And don't forget to follow us on Instagram and Twitter for additional updates.)

Attendance at practices and games is mandatory for all athletes. Varsity teams will practice on conference days, and all teams may have games on conference days as well; please plan accordingly.

If an athlete has an injury at any point throughout the season, they should consult with our Athletic Trainer, Alyssa Hart, to come up with a treatment plan to get better. This might involve treatment in the athletic trainer's room, weight room, or doing light work while supporting their teammates. If you have any questions, email [email protected]. Please note: attendance at games and practices is still required even if you are injured and cannot play.
A note about specific fall offerings
  • Strength & Conditioning: Students have the option to take Strength & Conditioning during G-Block or as a standalone Afternoon Activity. The afternoon session meets 4 days per week (Mon-Thurs) from 3:45-5:30 p.m.; the mid-day session meets 4 days per week (Mon-Thurs) during G-block. Students need a day off as we are accelerating our S+C program and will not meet on Fridays. Instead, on Fridays, students can cheer on teams at a game or match, do work, or go home.
  • Volleyball Skills Team: This team will practice 3 times per week, 3:45 p.m.–5:00 p.m., Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. This Skills team is designed for athletes who do not make the varsity or JV volleyball teams.
SAVE THE DATE
Athletics Awards night is returning Monday, November 14.
All fall teams, athletes, and families are invited.
Updates & improvements
We've been busy this summer updating and improving both our on-campus and online athletics experience:

  • We've revamped our weight room with four new Assault bikes, new squat racks, new weights and dumbells, and lots of other new equipment!
  • We have a new Veo 2 camera that will allow us to film and Livestream from the turf and at off-campus games. We'll share details of how and where to watch once games start.
  • Gym A has new gameday sideline chairs and in Gym B we are working on adding a new volleyball net system.
  • COMING SOON: A new athletics website that will be more dynamic, informative, and user-friendly. We're in the process of building it now and we are so excited to share more information late this fall!
We are all very excited to see our athletes on-campus and can't wait for the fall season. Please contact me with any questions you have.
