Attention 7th and 8th Graders wanting to
play TEMS Fall sports...
In order for a student to be eligible to participate in PIAA sports, he/she must meet the eligibility requirements as outlined on our athletic program form. Students and parents must also complete all the necessary forms. These forms, which are available in the main office or link to forms, must be returned to the school office before a student can participate in a school sport. Completed Fall 2016 forms should be returned to the athletic office by Friday, September 9th.
From the Nurse...
Attention Parents with Students entering 7th Grade-
The Public School Code of Pennsylvania requires all students entering 7th grade to have a dental examination.
Examinations completed by a family dentist within one year prior to the start of the school year are accepted for the required proof of such care. The required dental form can be reached at the school district web site under student health services. link
Attention Parents of 6th Grade Students-
Pennsylvania law requires that all students in sixth grade receive a physical
If you have not already done so, please have your child's doctor complete the physical exam report mailed to you last spring and return it to the nurse as soon as possible.

The TEMS school nurse is in need of parent volunteers to assist with the back to school health screenings.
Volunteer Clearances Update...
to the Child Protective Services Law (CPSL) enacted on July 1, 2015, state that school volunteers with regular and repeated contact with students and who are responsible for the care, supervision, guidance or control of children will need background clearances. As of July 1, 2016, your clearances must be received and processed by the School District prior to you volunteering for activities requiring clearances.
The three clearances required are the (1) PA Criminal Background Check, (2) PA Child Abuse Clearance, and (3) FBI (federal criminal background check). Directions for completing these forms can be found at
. There is no cost for the two PA clearances and the cost of the FBI check is $27. If you have lived in PA for the entirety of the previous ten years, you may submit an affidavit form in lieu of the FBI check. The affidavit form, which must be signed and witnessed, is also available on the District website. All clearance forms should be sent to the TESD Human Resources Office, 940 West Valley Road, Suite 1700, Wayne, PA 19087. They may also be emailed to
Additionally, renewal of clearances will now be required every five (5) years. If you already have your clearances, they are active for five (5) years from the date you obtained them.
Any questions regarding background clearances for volunteering may be directed to Jeanne Braun, Community and Volunteer Services Coordinator, at

Friendly Parents and Multilingual Speakers Needed...
Join us on the Welcoming Committee! Our goal is to reach out to families who are new to the district, answer their questions, and ease their transition to the school and community. We connect new families with committee members who have children of similar ages, and we hold New Family Coffees once per month. In addition, multilingual committee members are available to assist new families in their native language. For more info or to join the committee, contact Jen Marsala at
There are many ways for parents to
But to do so requires that we have accurate contact information for all of our students and their parents.
Student Verification Sheet, included in the August mailing from the school, is critical. Review it closely. Please return the CORRECTED sheet to TEMS main office (via the homeroom) within the first week of school. In addition to generally keeping the school apprised of your student's contact information, this sheet feeds the T/E All-Call Notification System and the E-newsletter database.
(e.g. this TEMS PTO blast email)
is the primary mechanism for the PTO to distribute important school and PTO information to parents. These emails (from TEMS PTO) will be coming weekly at least for the first couple months.
The Weekly Bulletin is the school's communication on school weekly activities (i.e. lunch menu, sports schedules etc.). A very important way to know what's going on in school for the week! This bulletin can be accessed on the left side bar on the TEMS website front page or on the TEMS PTO blast side bar.
The Student Directory is a valuable tool for parents. The directory gives you a way to contact families within your student's circle of friends. Orders are due by Friday, September 16.
The Nurse's Green Card is a Health Information Card that is necessary to return to the school as soon as possible. This provides the School Nurse with your child's latest health information, emergency contact numbers and permission to administer certain medications in school.
