Editor’s Note: Happy New Year, dear readers and labor arts activists! I know there’s a lot of trepidation about what lies ahead in 2025, but I’m really looking forward to those challenges, because it’s in just such times that great labor art has always been created, and been most needed. That was really brought home to me when I saw the terrific William Gropper show at The Phillips Collection last week; you’ll find music and art from that show in today’s newsletter, and it’s up through this Sunday, so check it out if you get a chance!
And it's appropriate that labor icon A. Philip Randolph has returned to a prominent spot in Union Station; his quote is more timely today than ever.
Also, if you’re looking for solidarity and inspiration, get your tickets now for our annual MLK "Gonna Take Us All" Ball, coming up on Sunday, January 19 at McGinty’s in Silver Spring. Jamie Raskin will be there, and DJ Wah-Heed will get us moving on the dance floor; don’t miss it!
