Happy National Aviation Day!
Governor Ron DeSantis Appoints City of Kissimmee Economic Development Director Belinda Kirkegard to the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority
We couldn’t be prouder of our city’s Economic Development Director Belinda Ortiz Kirkegard for being appointed to the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority Board of Directors by Governor Ron DeSantis on Friday. Kirkegard completes a seven-member board that controls both the state’s largest commercial airport, Orlando International Airport, and Orlando Executive Airport, the general aviation airport near downtown Orlando. Kirkegard has been the city’s economic development director since 2009 when she was brought on to create the city’s department. She has built a strong reputation throughout the state and is a well-known player in Florida’s economic development circles. In 2019, she was named the Orlando Business Journal “Women Who Mean Business” Executive of the Year and has been recognized by Florida Trend for the last three years in their “People to Know” in Florida. Kirkegard is active civically and currently serving on AdventHealth's Central Florida Division board as well as the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando, and the Puerto Rican Chamber of Commerce of Central Florida. Kirkegard earned her bachelor’s degree in public administration and political science from the University of Central Florida, her Master of Public Administration from Troy State University, and is a nationally certified economic development finance professional. Congratulations Belinda!
