The date has arrived for Cucamonga Station partners to host the Transportation & Regional Tourism Virtual Update on Tuesday, April 14, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
As the event is expected to draw its largest virtual audience to date, representatives from Brightline West, GOCAL, San Bernardino County Transportation Authority, Ontario International Airport, and the City of Rancho Cucamonga, will provide updates on major transportation projects and tourism initiatives underway, and how they are working together to better connect the region and create economic opportunities.

Omnitrans is marking 50 years of providing safe, reliable, and environmentally responsible transportation services to keep communities connected across the Inland Empire. Established in 1976, Omnitrans serves riders in southwestern San Bernardino County and covers more than 450 square miles. On April 1 (no joke!), Omnitrans celebrated their 50th Anniversary at their headquarters. Approximately 150 elected officials, stakeholders and staff were in attendance to honor the agency's accomplishments including 482 million trips to date and upcoming projects including the West Valley Connector/sbX Purple Line, rapid transit line, zero-emissions transition, and Cucamonga Station.
The agency also recognized the 13 employees who have been with the agency for 30+ years, including 42-year employee Rudy Hernandez, who joined the Maintenance Department in 1984! Attendees also signed a special 50th Anniversary commemorative bus bench as a "time capsule" of the occasion.

Omnitrans has also expanded ONT Connect shuttle service between Cucamonga Station and ONT to better serve riders connecting between Metrolink train service and airport terminals 2 and 4. | | Ontario Airport Wins ASQ Award as Passenger Traffic Increases | | |
Ontario International Airport (ONT) has once again been recognized among the best airports for customer experience, earning the 2025 Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Award for Best Airport at Departures in North America from Airports Council International (ACI) World.
Based on passenger surveys, the award reflects travelers’ direct feedback on comfort, convenience, and overall ease of travel. ONT’s recognition highlights its continued rise as one of North America’s most passenger-friendly airports and a leader in customer-focused innovation.
The award will be presented at the ACI Airport Experience Summit this September in Istanbul, Turkey.
Momentum at ONT continues beyond the terminal experience. In February, passenger traffic increased 6.3% year over year, with more than 478,000 travelers flying through the airport. Domestic travel rose 2.1% to 433,094 passengers, while international travel surged 55.1% to 55,531. Cargo shipments also saw strong growth, increasing 10.3% compared to February of last year.

The Greater Ontario Area Transportation (GOAT) system is now fully operational, offering expanded local shuttle service connecting Ontario International Airport (ONT) with hotels and key destinations across Ontario and Rancho Cucamonga. With extended hours from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., seven days a week, the GOAT shuttle provides greater flexibility for travelers, visitors, and airline crews. Riders can conveniently access major shopping and entertainment destinations including Ontario Mills and Victoria Gardens.
Developed in partnership with Greater Ontario California (GOCAL) and the Cities of Ontario and Rancho Cucamonga, GOAT offers an affordable, sustainable transportation option designed to enhance regional connectivity and improve the travel experience.

In other news, GOCAL has been working tirelessly to elevate the region’s tourism and travel opportunities by showcasing new destinations and entertainment options in Ontario and Rancho Cucamonga. Hired in late summer 2025, Ray Roa is now serving as the Chief Operating Officer of GOCAL and the General Manager of ONT Field. He brings nearly two decades of leadership in destination marketing and venue management that will help raise the region’s profile as a destination of choice in Southern California.
