Pulse on Power

Exciting times ahead as we lay the foundation for our energy future. Our top priority remains keeping the lights on and delivering top-notch service to our members today while setting the stage for an even brighter future as a cooperative.

We continue interviewing potential energy management partners as we prepare for a smooth transition. The LPEA Board will select one or more partners to build a power portfolio to supply power to our members.

Throughout this month, the Board will meet in executive session with some of its consultants to gain more insight into energy resource planning and other key insights into different energy options that would best meet the needs of our cooperative. This will help guide the selection of our energy management partner(s). These meetings will need to be held in executive session because of the confidential trade secret information that is involved.

We invite you to partner with us in shaping our energy future! Your insights are invaluable, and we're excited to offer various ways for you to participate:

  • Join Our Focus Groups: This summer, engage in meaningful discussions by participating in various focus groups. We'll let you know once the dates are confirmed. Sessions will be held in person across our service territory and virtually. If you're interested, please fill out the form below.
  • Take Our Survey: Please be on the lookout for an upcoming survey seeking your input on our future power supply. We'll notify you via email when it's launched, along with other feedback options such as mail, in-person at our offices, or over the phone.

Your active participation will shape our energy narrative and ensure we meet the needs of our community. Together, we'll create a future we can all be proud of.

Spotlight on Safety

May was Electric Safety Month, and at LPEA, all of our lineworkers completed their annual pole top rescue training (pictured above).

Pole top rescue training is a specialized safety training program designed for electrical lineworkers. It focuses on equipping lineworkers with the skills and knowledge needed to perform a rescue in the event that a fellow worker becomes injured or incapacitated while working at the top of a utility pole or other elevated structure.

During pole top rescue training, lineworkers learn techniques for safely ascending and descending poles, securing themselves and the injured individual, and performing a rescue while minimizing risks to themselves and others. This training typically covers various scenarios, such as rescues involving unconscious or conscious individuals, and emphasizes the importance of teamwork, communication, and adherence to safety protocols.

By completing pole top rescue training, lineworkers are better prepared to respond effectively to emergency situations, ensuring the safety and well-being of themselves and their colleagues while working at heights in challenging environments.
