”‘Twas the night before Jesus came and all through the house,
Not a creature was praying, not one in the house,
Their Bibles were lain on the shelf without care
In hopes that Jesus would not come there.
The children were dressing to crawl into bed,
Not once kneeling or bowing a head.
And Mom in her rocker with baby on her lap,
Was watching the Late Show while I took a nap.
When out of the East there arose such a clatter,
I sprang to my feet to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash!
When what to my wondering eyes should appear
But angels proclaiming that Jesus was here.
With a light like the sun sending forth a bright ray
I knew in a moment this must be The Day!

The light of his face made me cover my head
For it was Jesus returning just like he had said.
And though I possessed worldly wisdom and wealth,
I cried when I saw him in spite of myself.
In the Book of Life which he held in his hand
Was written the name of the saved from every land.
He spoke not a word as he searched for my name;

When he said, “It’s not here,” my head hung in shame.
The people whose names had been written with love
He was gathering to take to his Father above.
With those who were ready he rose without a sound
While all the rest of us were left standing around.
I fell to my knees, but it was too late;
I had waited too long and thus sealed my fate.
I stood and I cried as they rose out of sight;
Oh, if only I had been ready tonight.
In the words of this poem the meaning is clear;
The coming of Jesus is still drawing near.
There’s only one life and when comes the last call
We'll find that the Bible was true after all.

Healing can be instantaneous or a process and no matter how you experience it, you can rejoice! Jesus, The LIVING Word, gave His life not only to save our souls, but to heal us from the top of our head, to the soles of our feet, psychologically and spiritually. Again I say rejoice because The WRITTEN Word is sharper than a two edged sword! If we believe and use it, It has the ability to CUT, SEVER and SPLIT growths, REMOVE tumors, REPAIR the body, DISSOLVE a blockage and REVERSE a diagnosis while RENEWING the mind!

The Healing Hands Ministry has gathered several scriptures concerning building up our faith and healing. This document can be accessed by clicking here. Pick one or two verses and meditate on them day and night and consider making them even more personal by placing yourself in The Word as you read the verses aloud. For example:
Instead of reading: “You shall serve the Lord your God; He shall bless your bread and water, and I will take sickness from your midst” Exodus 23:25

Pray aloud: “I shall serve YOU, Lord MY God; I believe YOU shall bless MY bread and water, and YOU will take sickness from MY midst in the Name of Jesus!”
Remember: The power of life and death is in the tongue or our words. Resist the urge to speak negatively concerning a diagnosis. Instead, break the cycle, say what The Word states and speak life!

CLFMI Healing Hands Ministry is available to you. Reach out to a member or email us: healing.hands@clfmi.org to share your prayer request.

Disappointments and Losses
We must learn to deal with disappointments and losses. If you never have challenges it would make you think that you are self sustainable; in other words, god.

Get it straight, all the knowledge and wisdom you have does not originate from you, but is a gift from the creator, God. "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not on your own understanding, but in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path". (Proverbs 3:5) . God wants us to rely and trust in Him. Man's character is such that if left alone with situations and challenges that they could always handle, they possibly would not have a need for God. The more one feels self sufficient, the more that person might be inclined to ignore the existence of or the need of God. Don't deceive yourself, let go and let God.

Till next time,
Pastor J

The Holiday Blues

As we know, Christmas is about the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. But we also know the holiday season brings people together as we worship and celebrate with our family and friends. The Christmas blues is a real experience for many who:
  • Are remembering love ones and pets who have passed away
  • Are missing love ones who can't attend family gatherings for Christmas.
  • Are going through difficult times
  • Are experiencing regrets
  • Are experiencing loneliness
  • Are experiencing separation and divorce
  • And other losses

Some ideas to beat the blues:
  • Attend worship services and Christmas productions. Invite someone to go with you.
  • Get involved by visiting residents in nursing homes and inpatients in the hospitals.
  • Call family and friends and check on those who are alone.
  • Get outdoors for winter activities—and invite someone to go with you.
  • Watch Christmas movies.
  • Put up some seasonal decorations—even if its just a seasonal plant.
  • Go to a light show—invite a group to go with you.
  • Organize an outdoor winter picnic—including hot drinks brought in thermoses. Or invite someone or a small group to your home for fellowship and light refreshments.
  • Travel if you can.
  • Volunteer at local non-profits.
  • One good cry can cleanse your soul and make you feel brand new. "Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning." Psalm 30:5
The CLFMI Care Team is here for you

We send out cards for birthdays, bereavement, get well, special occasions, thinking of you, etc.

Philippians 2:4. Do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.
BLACK HISTORY MOMENTS
The Gospels do not give the names of the Magi (or even how many there were, nor their ethnicity). Historical manuscripts suggest that one of the Magi was of African decent, but as we read through the Gospels, there is no mention of this traditional thought. Also note that Jesus was about two years old when the Magi located him and his mother in Bethlehem. (Read Matthew 2:16).

Matthew 2:1-12 (KJV)
1 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,
Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.
When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.
And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born.
And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet,
And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.
Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared.
And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also.
When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.
10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.
11 And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense and myrrh.
12 And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.
A young couple moved into a new house. The next morning while they were eating breakfast, the young woman saw her neighbor hanging the washing outside.

"That laundry is not very clean; she doesn’t know how to wash correctly. Perhaps she needs better soap powder. Her husband looked on, remaining silent. Every time her neighbor hung her washing out to dry, the young woman made the same comments.

A month later, the woman was surprised to see a nice clean wash on the line and said to her husband, "Look, she’s finally learned how to wash correctly. I wonder who taught her this?"
The husband replied, "I got up early this morning and cleaned our windows."

And so it is with life… What we see when watching others depends on the clarity of the window through which we look.
So don’t be too quick to judge others, especially if your perspective of life is clouded by anger, jealousy, negativity or unfulfilled desires.

"Judging a person does not define who they are. It defines who you are."
