Getting to Know our Tenants

Meet Marc! He is one of our awesome tenants, and we loved hearing about his positive experience living in a Housing Unlimited home:

My name is Marc. I am 46 years old. I have been living at Housing Unlimited for almost three years now.

In 2017 both my parents passed away and this was a great shock for me. For over 25 years my parents had helped me to manage my mental illness. After the death of my parents I had no permanent place to stay. I learned about HUI from a friend of mine in the Church whose son lived there.

The past three years have been a completely new experience for me. I have discovered what it means to live independently for the first time. Sometimes I struggle with my new found independence. Other times I feel happier than I ever have in my life. Before I had lived on my own I dreaded the responsibility of independence. Now I try to look at life as an adventure and embrace whatever the future holds.

I believe that HUI is a wonderful program. I honestly don’t know where I would be without it. The past three years have been a very happy experience for me. Also, I have two excellent roommates. One of my roommates stated that he feels that we are more like family to each other than just roommates.

It is also my belief that God had a direct hand in creating HUI. I also believe that God made it possible for me to stay here and I try to thank Him often for His generosity.

I am also very grateful for the staff of HUI. The HUI staff has always been very supportive and responsive.
Introducing a New Housing Unlimited Staff Member: Lily Dunn!
Lily recently joined Housing Unlimited as a property manager and we are thrilled to have her join our HUI family! Here's a little bit about Lily, in her own words:

Hey everyone, I’m Lily! Before joining Housing Unlimited I had an internship with the Baltimore City Dept. of Human Resources and am in the process of obtaining my MPA. I am very excited to work for an organization that allows individuals to gain independence and grow through stable, affordable housing.

Welcome, Lily!
